One of the main areas you need to reinforce is the bondline, and the only way to do that is to layer reinforcement across the bondline from the inside. CF on the outside would add some strength, but you'd still have a big vulnerability.

I left the rideplate full length when I shortened my RN and then D-cut it. It seemed like that would be the easiest way, but after messing with the corners when fiberglassing it probably would have been easier just to move the rideplate inserts and find a used SN rideplate.

I use 2 Rule 500's and a float switch. I have a rotary dashboard switch with three positions, wired up as auto-off-on. Best of all worlds - I just flip it to the best setting for what I'm doing.

Nick, I think the nose rocker idea is awesome for a surf boat. You should also consider shortening at the rear though - try out someone's boat which has been shortened: you'll be amazed at the difference it makes. I think a couple of inches or so off the back and the extra nose rocker you are...

Fun times! Good to see Paul and Ronny too - it's been a while. I have to say, Jesse and Morgan have always been a great couple, and I was really happy to see them getting married. It's good to see Jesse so happy with life too - the Corps really seems to be good for him.
