Block the return line on the carb and test from the fuel inlet. Any accurate guage that will read low pressures like 0-40 psi in small increments should work.

Weak or no spark initally, cranking fills the exhaust with fuel/air and then when it does spark, BOOM. Pull the plugs after riding for a while and check for spark. Suspect bad plug wires, bad coil, or maybe a flakey CDI. Check the electrical box for water and all internal connections. Also ohm...

Yep, just get a shaft & throttle plate rebuild kit. You will probably have to cut the shafts to get the old plates out because they usually won't slide out due to the beat up edges. Use red loctite on the new plate screws and peen the back sides so they won't back out and trash your engine...

Rope in the cyl works great, this way you can use the torque wrench and know that it is right. I have used the impact method in the past but was always concerned about over torque.

Pull the engine, it's not that hard and you won't ruin your motor mounts. If the cracks are bad enough to be repaired you might need to reinforce on the inside also once you grind out the bad glass from the cracks thus leaving a thin area in the V you grind out. That is if you are planning on...

One little tail stab hitting bottom will cause the engine to bump the mid shaft back. Just do like SuperJett says and remove the midshaft assembly and use a hardwood block and a hammer to drive the shaft a little more towards the engine. I kind of do the same thing but I just add the oil to the empty jug and when I get to the pump I put about .5 gallon in and then swish it around before pumping the rest. Probably overcautious but it makes me confident that it is mixed well.

SS and the price is right. Simple and effective. Just trim the tube to the proper length to fit the inside of your pole and tighten it down. The only drawback is no spring, but you will not miss it if the pole is tight.

Agreed, grease is temporary,1211 is the stuff, it is best choice hands down.
