pop off tester

what does it take to make a pop off tester? I have a leak tester for my motor, it looks like it would probably work for pop off too.

The original Mikuni gauge costs about 35 bucks or so...it may be worth your while to go that route.
But I hear you, I built my own leak tester as well.

I am not sure...check Mikuni's website.
I have a brand new tester, have had it for a couple of months now - and I still haven't unpacked it.

it plugs in to the fuel inlet. spray wd on your needle and seat before you check.

Block the return line on the carb and test from the fuel inlet. Any accurate guage that will read low pressures like 0-40 psi in small increments should work.

I use my air compressor and a $10 regulator with a $7 dollar 50 psi gauge on it. You have to spin the regulator kinda fast, if you sneak up on it it won't "pop" accurately.

you try using a ball valve in front of the regulator so you can set your PSI to lets say 25 then just open the valve for the air to rush in

I use a compressor too, mine will pop after sneaking up on it with the regulator if I soak the needle/seat area with wd-40 before each test (as mick mentioned). I actually prefer to raise the pressure slowly as it makes it easier to see where it pops.

Edit: Lay a rag or something over it though so you don't get a wd-40 facial.
