Did WDK take any bail out money? NO! Has the inovation and quality improved on his products over the last 5 years tremendously? YES! Is the delivery of a quality product assumed when purchasing a custom part from WDK? YES! Will the delivery be timely and as promised? PROLLY NOT! Is it the same service recieved and expected from others in the custom Jet Ski industry? OH HELL YEAH!
All the above questions and answers are from my experience and not speculation.
I bought a REV and had serious reservations about it once the inner liner seperated and the hull cracked. I know of many others that are still holding up today and did not have this issue. I had other issues on the handling as well. But I can say that WDK made it right in the end and admitted that there were issues and that he learns from them and makes things better I.E. (the Envy) and no more inner liners.
in the 3 years I have ridden my REV I have seen MANY aftermarket hulls and being that I assembled mine myself I could see the areas most dont see on mine and I know how it is made completely. Others I have seen of the same materials were definately not of the same consistancy and quality of my REV and until recently they were ABSOLUTELY not as inovative as far as design.
I see and hear people talk about 3 mos to recieve there hulls and 2 mos. late and DAYUM when will it be here ALREADY. But never a BASH THREAD. I have seen (in person) some seriously SHOTTY craftsmanship and some nice craftsmanship and for the $ I still think that WDK can produce as good a hull as ANYONE in the industry. Spend $4k somewhere else and receive less hull, Spend $6K somewhere else and still get a lesser quality and IMO lesser inovation design then you would with WDK at the same price.
YUP you may have to get in line and wait a while but that is common knowledge and lately common practice for most QUALITY custom suppliers in this industry.
Case in point, been waiting 2 mos. for a crank from Crank Works (just got it yesterday). They told me 3-4 weeks? It is what it is in MOST CUSTOM industries.
Listen to the peeps who have ACTUALLY dealt with Jeff and then read between the lines. Is waiting 4-6 weeks longer than you were told really all that different then ANYWHERE ELSE? Not in my experience.
I am definately looking forward to the new hull design and I think if you are thinking of purchasing a QUALITY aftermarket hull you will be seriously disservicing your interests by not waiting and checking out this option as well.
Who else offers PREPREG hulls? NO ONE!!!!!!
Now as far as dry pipes for the 66E, another story and I think people who know pipes know it is not easy to produce a cost efficient pipe from scratch. He tried it and it just ended up non feesable IMO.
but when it comes to MOST of his ventures, his time effort and inovation pays off.
