Wait till its starts overheating and your head gaskets blow out; that's the most common problem with those and it will cost more than what you paid for the car to fix it. :jester:

:unitedstates: Buy American; GM products are just awesome for reliability.

That is a problem with the phase 1 2.5L. I have the older 2.2L. It's bullet proof. Besides, with as easy as this is to work on I could swap head gaskets with ease. Gaskets and belts are cheap.

i had a buddy that drove his parents old beat up stro van for a while. he killed that thing. used to get the hydraulics going while the car was doing 20-25 mph down the block. i don't think any stop sign would be driven away from without mashing the gas to the floor.

they changed two rears in it and a tranny over the course of a few hard years(junkyard parts of course) motor had close to 300,000 when it finally gave out.

that vehicle saw the most abuse ive ever seen and just kept on ticking. Im amazed at what abuse that tranny and rear took before letting go.

I bought the wife a 1998 Astro brand new
It has 185k on it now, blonde daughter drives it and it is still holding together!
so you know they have to be built stout
Pull 3 ski trailor no problem but I am afraid
the Mastercraft would eat the transmission on the ramp!
Replaced intake manifold gasket at 100k good since then:biggrin:
my ski bud has a S-10 with 350k+ on it, original motor, second tranny
he pulls all kinds of stuff around, 'toons, houseboats, does detailing work

The Penguin

triple secret probation
its AWD, and i pull the front shaft in the summer for better MPG, ( although it dosnt do much) and its weird some times it rolls and some times it dosnt??? the ramps aloth steeper this time of year,, i had the wheels chocked too, and it rolled over them!!! ha... it was funny to see!
I wanna know how a ramp gets steeper from one part of the year to another.

oh, and your van rolling into the water is karma for blocking the ramp you inconsiderate boob.

It's all depend how many drinks you have before looking at the ramp. Probably more this time of the year. LOL !!!

My dad just bought another Astro van. He's had like 6 too. He loves the AWD ones. This one was bought at prison auction. It has tie down anchors inside....for people.

My S-10 pick-up is one very reliable cheap POS that's still going strong with 140K+.

Nope... you break the belt on those and the heads are coming off.

Mine went through 1.5 transmissions, had loads of electrical problems, and had some very serious cooling issues.

WTF? Penguin,,,?
1st, the ramp is much steeper now cause the water level is way lower,, in the summer at this ramp ur truck doesn't even come off the pavement to the cement ramp part, just ur trailer,, now with the water so low, u have To back all the way down the cement..
2nd. It's the end if november in Ohio! No one is boating,, so the fact that I can look at this ramp from my kitchen, and see theirs no one commibg or going all week, plus the fact that thiet other ramps on site,,, how does that make me an inconsiderate boob??? Explain? Don't act like I pulled my Richard out at church or something,, I parked in the ramp, just like everyone elese does when they know it's ok to..

I'm still not understanding. Perhaps you can use the attached picture to explain how a lower water level means that the ramp is at a different angle.

I'm with you on the parking. Nobody (NOBODY) launches in the winter time where I ride, so I park the van on the ramp.
