lol,,, the chevy astro, and the gmc safari if the best creation to ever roll out of a GM plant!!! they should of never quit making them! this is my 6th one since iv had my drivers licence! i pull a 24ft baja with it,, can fit 2 superjets in the back and get 20mpg! i hold the long distance jump record at work with 36 feet! if GM started making these babies again, their $$$ problems would be solved!!!! :bigok:
WERD! Dont be dissin on the Astro's
I bought a new Astro in 91 and put 290,000 miles on it before I sold it to a guy 2 years ago and it was still running great. The 4.3 liter is a darn good motor.
I have 2 more Astros now as work vans(one newer and another old style). My old one purrs and has 197,000 miles and my newer one(2000) has 163,000 and I run it all over the place hauling boats, ski's, etc
The Astro van is the "real" minivan...
Caravan, Aerostar, and them other POS front wheel drives are tinker toys compared to a Astro/Safari.
The Astro has rear wheel drive(unless you buy the AWD model) and sits on the Chevy 1/2 ton pickup frame and the 4.3L is just the 350 V8 Chevy engine with 2 cylinders cut off. Cant go wrong there.
Ive never have a tranny problem with any of them. The old ones will brake stand forever... Its funny.
Ive been called Astro boy before by my friends...lol:smokin:
it was good run for the Chevy and the Astro/Safari from 1987-2005
A good forum I go to sometimes is www.astrosafari.com
