She was a fun boat, but I'm just tired of working on it instead of riding it.

For the most part this thing is bone stock.

It's got a UMI ride plate, and top loader grate. Impeller is still unknown, and I see no sign of engine mods. The guy I bought it from says this is how he bought it several year's ago and it's pretty much just set at his lake house since.

I'm thinking I'll need a pipe, F/A, and possibly an Impeller for some low end grunt. Also needs grips and I have foot straps to install. Recomendations?

Next Question.. what tou you guys do about these foam caps when you returf? turf over 'em or remove and reshape the tops?

Hood straps... .required? Best mouning configuration?

Anything else I should do (other than add a bilge) before I head to the surf. This think WLL see Daytona this sping.. So I need to be ready.

Convert it to premix
Block off the crankcase drain plug
I'd keep the stock FA, especially for surf riding. It keeps the water out better than aftermarket

There is a good thread on here, or on PWC about those tubes. I think tor*p*do has a write up on it in regards to his foothold install.

If you will buy a sheet of hydro-turf instead of a kit, you can remove the caps, glass over the holes, fill in the two rear compartments and turf over all of it and it comes out real nice. I have done this to two that I have put wff and blowsion footholds in and it turned out great.

So you bought it, nice looking ski.
Primer kit will help.

yeah, no primer kit. This thing fired on the third bump of the starter after not haveing been run since it was winterized a few months ago.

It starts on the first bump now even with the cold. My other ski's WITH the primer dont start this easy... I alredy like this one better.

nice work scott! good to see you'll be standing up come spring instead of riding that tow ski poolaris. I would go with straps too. foot holds just seem like too much work, i i rarely use my holds. I want to returf my ski and put in straps too. If you get this thing ready in time and can get some time off work, you should go the the pensacola ride with me (chicken bone x2ravaganva). i am working on the details for a condo down there. Should be a great time. good luck with teh build, good to see you got it.

awsome to see you got it scott..good move. if it was mine i'd be looking at doing the straps..re turf, a pipe, a prop, and change out that pole for aluminum, and a steering system. and definitally blocking off that oil injection and switching to premix

What everyone else said...although I would do footholds (wider stance=more stable). Get rid of the stupid foam side thingy's for sure and just turf over them with a heat gun.

Factory Pipe
9/17 Swirl

Send the head and Flywheel to groupK for lightening and cutting (quick and cheap bump up in low end power!!!)

Keep the flame arrestor stock!!!
