I'd go with the JSS coils. I have them in all my ski's without issue. Everyone I ride with has them as well and we are all 100 percent salt water.
There were some issues with the JSS coils reported a couple years ago that keep getting brought up so it may seem like a bigger problem than it really is. It has always been my opinion that there was an issue with some of the material that John used for a particular batch. He's not the kind of guy to let something like that go on without making a correction.
This has been my experience as well. I have had them on all of my personal skis for years and mostly saltwater usage without issue. JetManiac has sold hundreds of JSS coils as well with very few returned. Sometimes the returned coils were fine and issues were with other components. However, there were a few with faulty wires which were always replaced.
I just got my SJ ignition coli back from JSS. After talking to him on the phone he said that they test it after they rebuild/add cables to it to make sure it works. He also said out of thousands of coils he has only seen one that was bad. He also said that the wires will need to be replaced again depending on how much your engine shakes (bad mounts) and how much you ride.
It is important to remember that 'JSS coils' are OEM yami or kawi coils with new wires and boots. John at JSS was stating that the oem (mitsubishi) coil itself is super reliable and that they seldom fail.
The wires and terminals whether they are oem or JSS or other ALL fail with enough use. Vibration and corrosion and repeated taking caps on and off will eventually cause weaker or loss of spark.
Every jss coil I have ever used was bad. Never use another one
Breaking up everytime it hit saltwater. Put a oem coil in and ran perfect. I gave up after 2 coils. But seems everyone else that had them had the same problem.
I understand that the Wavejunkies had a bad batch of JSS coils years ago and you are speaking from your personal experience with them, but JSS is no longer using the same brand of wires which caused you all the problems.
JetManiac has always replaced newer JSS coils for our customers with issues from our inventory as a matter of good customer service ,and then sending them for replacement/evaluation to JSS. Usually they were repaired without question and there were very few needing service.
However, there were some problems near the end of last year with some coils that were newly purchased.

After being emailed the above video, John at JSS told us that was why he didn't recommend shipping used coils internationally. Huh? As stated above, the coils themselves seldom fail and it is obviously not the coil but the wires that are failing in the video.
We also replaced a few new or nearly new at daytona, even one not purchased through us. After daytona, these coils were sent to JSS and we were told that they were all good and problems were due to 'salt deposits' under the caps and on wires and warranty was refused. Since this epic fail of JSS customer service, we have been reviewing and testing alternatives to JSS.
