Super Jet JSS coil upgrades

wow really "out of thousands of coils he has only seen one that was bad"??? I personally have had 3 bad ones!!! Its posts like yours that give this site a bad name and why people dont come one here any more.
Thats not what JSS meant by that, he's talking about when the coils come in for wires he's seen very few actually fail at the coil its self. The bad ones people got, were from bad wires.

Run JSS coils on all my skis, problem free

I would have no problem running his coil. I have done the mod myself, not as pretty but worked just as good. His Stator, different story. OEM only.

The only way to test it would be to have an engine set up on a test bench. dont know if he does that. Just adding some power to it and seeing spark is not a test. It would need to be load tested.

I've always just sent in my own coils for the wire upgrade. I mark them first to insure I get my known good coils back. Yamaha OEM plug wires suck ass. I don't run any skis with stock wires anymore.

That's not credible either, care to quantify that statement? A bad stator will not "fry" a coil. Coils can go bad I promise you, not saying it happens all the time but it does happen.
Chris.
Is there any way to fix a bad epic after they lose spark?

I've got a couple epics that are toast sitting in my parts bin

Is there a decent coil with towers, instead of attached wires, that could be used with stock electronics? That would allow the use of standard wires and as many wire changes as you wanted with ease.

There isn't anything wrong with a well-done JSS coil or the SXR/MSD setup. It will last for years and years. The problem isn't the coil, the problem is running high voltage ignition components in a marine environment.

Maybe so, but with towers, it would just be a matter of cleaning the contacts, and replacing wires, no need to send them off to be rewired, nor to break out the epoxy and do it yourself.

Once you have the coil out of the electrical box, which you have to do anything if the wires go poof, and if you have all the supplies to do this mod. It takes about 20-30 minutes if you grind the sides to epoxy them back, if you make a tool out of tubing to eat out the rubber than I would say about 10 minutes worth of work.

It really is easy to do.

It is just about the ultimate setup, IMO the MSD boot is nicer because you can run their red clips that hold the boot to the plug. But thats just me.
These clips are like $10 each but worth every $$$$

One would think that you could send a "bad epic" back to the manufacturer to be tested. Does ATP do that? Like MSD does with their brains.
Thats a real question, not a joke. I dont know if they do or dont. and if you go through the vender or direct.
