I hate to say it...but I tried for 3 hours straight to do a tail stand, and I can't get the back to sink....I tried to spin out and go into a stand but I'm not gonna lie I kinda psych myself out...it was so frustrating to be out there while all the other male jet skiers can do it without a problem...I felt like an idiot...so I guess I need to try something else...
I had the same problem at first. I weigh like 130 so just standing in my tray doesnt do much. What i do is break it loose and spin a 180 then let off the throttle and lean back. The you will already have the momentum from the spin and you should be able to stand it up. The harder part is getting the 180 perfect so you can carry your momentum backwards.
tailstands are good ones too. Tail stands can be tough for small, light people. My buddies wife can stand on hers at idle and it wont sink!
Good luck!
