well anyway, to the op of this thread, here is my take on it. Even though its been said already, you would have to have a huge wavepool to be able to control the wave conditions which would cost a fortune. Then you need big sponsors to cover fees which would be the hardest part. I like the idea of DJ or Chris or someone putting together something epic for showcasing what we could bring to the x-games. I know it would be a hit because everytime I show videos to people that arent into the sport, they are always blown away by it. When we have groups with people like Pancake riding in the local areas here when the summer crowds are around, EVERYONE stops to take notice and are very intrigued by watching. Someone make it happen. I know it can be done.

Now its time to go make dinner for my family, so someone fill me in later on what happened and why this thread got locked lol.

Funny you say this.....
Just coming down from the Daytona high...BOOO! However, saw some great riders year after year wouldn't even know where to start. All the local people asking questions....even "Hey where is Pancake Pete..." Nick was on the news even....So, I agree with you and why not get some good vids out there.....BUT THATS just IMO!!!

You know, something I just keep coming back too.

Years ago, I would say 2003-2004 I remember there were several guys from Florida that rode the surf alot, posted about their rides, repairing their skis when they ripped the noses off. There was this one kid (not really a kid) who had an FX1. Personally, I cannot stand them. But he loved his, rode the piss out of it. Then one day I remember him posting that he is moving, (Cannot remember if it was job related or just wanted a change of scenery). He moved to Cali, started posting about riding on a RN and his surf riding got better. Over the years his skill level got better and better, There would be a shot of him in a magazine. Then you started seeing him going to Europe competing, where he posted about his travels. He just got better and better. He is also one of the humblest people I have ever met. I got the pleasure of meeting him in person in 2006. On the boards he is always been respectfull. Never once acted like he was any better than the fat guy on a runabout.

Then there are other riders who go out, have a natural talent, The kind of talent that many wish they could have. The kind of talent that might get you in the magazines. But one of the differences is some of these guys have attitudes like you would not beleive. Almost like they feel they are better than everybody. Almost the attitude of "If you do not ride with me or as good as me, then your a nobody". They get into it with people on the site, then does one of the greatest back peddle jobs out there. Like they think they are covered in duck feathers, where nothing sticks to them. But you see, after a while, while the stuff may not stick, the stink can linger. These people for what ever reason has lost their way, lost their love for the sport. Probably with some excuse about the politics. But their attitude has just gone down the crapper. Instead of moving on, they stay back and cast their negativity towards others.

I just dont get it.

Yes I do.

its a small scene. people get stoked on this adrenaline fueled sport just like any other. the wow factor is there, but the danger factor isnt. i think it could definetly make a 15 minute segment out of it. theres no big corprate sponsorships so they wont help push it.

and wydopen you are the most negative person on the internet ive ever seen, your so negative you attact :):):):)storms with every post. i understand how youve moved on to bigger and better things, but we, being the lower lifeforms, are not yet prepared to evolve to your level. please save us the same old drama and go fly a kite.

forgot to add one thing. As cool as we think surf riding is, it would never work in the xgames. It looks too simple to do to someone that doesnt ride. Only people that ride know how hard it is to carve a wave on a ski. Aerials are what the non riders are wow'ed by

What u guys failed to catch onto three years ago and still can't grasp today is the fact that u need to be able to do both so u arnt wasting half the time u are in the water idling around in circles so it is actually interesting

Actually, many of us who do actually compete know that you have to keep moving and doing tricks for the entire 2 minutes. The only lag time is waiting for that first wave (if in the surf) to hit to start your run.

Don't worry about the idling, they can just edit that out. Just like they do in surfing competitions that are shown on TV.
Sorry, seeing a guy paddle out or sit on his board eyeballing a "perfect" set just isn't keeping the sponsors happy.
That 30 seconds of excitement is all we need to see.
