Wow I just gone done reading most of the post in this thread and one word comes to mind for me...... Diversity. I just got of the hill at Kirkwood Yesterday double black diamonds and fun tree runs, Next week off to San Diego (where i grew up my dad just passed away) to surf overhead reef breaks on my ten footer, Pismo trip in four weeks where i will be goin just as big as most of you guys, The river season starts in about 2 months goin big wake to wake every sat and sun, I will ride a wheely on my dirt bike from cali to wydeopens door step, I will go out in front of my house on the curb and do 25 foot 50/50 slap grinds on my 56 inch longboard, hop onto the hood of your car on my mountain bike, and dominate on darn near anything with wheels or rails. My point is that most of the guys i have met on here seem to be alright, others need to be corrected. On your pc you AREVERYLARGE. On MY beach, On MY break, On MY wake, On MY curb, On MY hill, dont be surprised if that kind of talk gets you walking with a limp or missing a couple of teeth. I hope you all have a great day!!!

I agree with Nick.
Our sport isn't really that exciting to watch for a long time. You don't want to be in the xgames than dropped a year or 2 later. The xgames started with some ghey a$$ crap. They had shovel racing 1 year at winterx. Look at street luge. That was ghey and huge while in the xgames than as soon as it was out, it killed that sport. If we "the stand up riders" get into the xagems it got to be the right spot. It would have to be surf to be exciting. Best bet is a sick trick & 1 moto race both held in the surf I'd like to see it happen but it's cool if doesn't. I'll still ride with my boys and have fun. Go Green

wasnt surfing in the summerx for a while? If jetskis get into x games its going to have to be surf sick tricks and heavily edited to even have a chance,most x sports are edited big time anyway.its hard to do offsite gigs for xgames,it just doesnt fit their model well.They still do offsite wakeboarding though,possibly a group of wake board boats at this venue just make a few sets of good hits in a row for a fmx type setup. but guys would have to be going really big and diverse tricks to entertain here,not sure we are there yet.
Xgames have just gone so HUGE these days,look at the size of the halfpipes,mountain size multi hits for freeride skis and snowboards,the sick size sled tracks,giant 10 hit in a row fmx xfighters type setups,crazy 250 ft roll in huge gap 30 ft qpipe.they just keep getting more insane each yr,this is very tough to compete with imo.We would have faired far better 5 yrs ago.I think this is why surfing caught the boot from the x,even though its a ridiculous popular sport its still boring as shiz to non surfers to watch on tv.

Here is my take. We are still VERY small compared to MX, Surfing, Snowmobiling, Skiing, Snowboarding, etc. (There are more people skiing at 1 resort in 1 day than ride standups in the whole country!)... and there are 494 ski resorts in the US alone!
However, we are growing (freestyling & freeriding). The sales of SXRs and Superjets don't really show it, but people are snatching up old SN and RN left and right and making them bad ass skis...along with all the aftermarket hulls out there. This site and computer accessed vids are helping showcase what we're doing. I'll bet everybody's riding group has grown in the past 5 years. Ours has doubled in Cleveland!
I truly feel that we could get a big surf event (kinda like Surf Slam) in the X Games.... We still need that one defining competition video... Surf Slam could've helped pulled it off this year if it wasn't for the fog....or maybe even Daytona this year if the waves and weather on Saturday were like on Sunday. We just need to get the right vid to the right guy... there are some LAME events in the XGames. I think they would love to mix it up and stick us in there!! I will help edit a vid...and maybe even add announcers later to make it look like an X Games event.
Maybe next year at Daytona we all get together, bring all the banners down to the beach along with the PA, get about 5 guys video taping and have a full blown surf event where the riders all judge each other and I'll edit up a sick vid to start spreading around the world. (complete with bikini chicks!)

surf pros would do it for sure if the contest was run by someone that knew what they were doing,xgames is the superbowl of all extreme sports,the payouts blow all other contests out of the water in terms of prize $ medals,exposure for sponsors and many other things.Fact is its just not that exciting to watch and it was droped. watching a pro and some random good surfer do their thing in average waves doesnt appear that diff to the untrained eye,watching a pro freeride guy and some random good guy rip a ski in ANY surf is night and day,this counts alot for entertainment purpose for large diverse tv audiences. and further more displays the talent needed to do this sport well vs surf a wave on a board
