I've bought a GoPro Wide camera with several different mounts for the site and plan on sending it around the US (and other countries maybe) to get footage of the different kinds of riding that we all do. Rapids, tug boat wakes, salt marshes, ice/snow, canyons, creeks, even wrenching on a ski, anything that's a little different and people may not have done/seen before is what we're after mostly.
DJKorn is going to do the editing and will be using some of his own footage as well.
I plan on setting up an upload folder for you to upload your footage and mailing it in on dvd to DJ would work too, just keep it in original format if possible so it keeps the quality high.
Also, please don't send 5 hours of footage, cut it down to the good stuff because we may only use like 2 minutes.
I know tons of people have cameras now, but we need to try to keep the footage somewhat consistent so we'll have to see what DJ has to say about that.
One thing I'm going to have to be strict about is who uses the camera and how it's used. I don't want this thing to disappear, so whoever it ships to will have to be responsible and 'known' and I'd like to get a deposit on it before shipping that you'll get back once it's back in my hands or the next person's.
Batteries are another thing. It requires 2 AAA batteries. Rechargeables do work, but not as long as lithiums. I will not supply batteries, you're on your own on that because some people may only need one pair while others use more. If you have rechargeables, use those, or if you want to buy 2 or 4 lithiums that's cool too.
More to come as we hash out details/logistics.
