what are good spark plug boots?

i use ngk plug caps
The standard "screw in" style NGK plug boots have build in resistor so unless you run a controller....

I have been running the MSD caps and poly locks for over a year now with good results. I wouldn't run the MSD caps without the locks!

Picture below shows the non traditional way to crimp the wire. Typically you fold the wire back over the rubber then crimp. For a car or carbon wire this is fine but for a S/S coil wire, you want to crimp it like I did.

it was weird i never had a problem with plug caps but recently i had them pop off everyride for at least three weeks (they were ziptied and i tried several brands) the msd work the best by far..just dont put them on a crap coil that is trimmed all the way back (thats what happened to those)..the screw ons are nice but the msd dont pop off

I buy those identical connectors from Oreilly auto parts for 23 cents each, and crimp solder them, and run factory boots, and have never had any problems.

I prefer to run a resistor cap, especially with digital ign. (msd excepted) There is no performance difference, they just cut down on rf interference.

NGK pn:TBO5EMA is my preference. They make the TBO5EM caps in red, blue and black. I have found that the black ones have less tendency to swell when exposed to wd40, crc, etc. They are the stock seadoo ones on all 2stroke carby ski's, if you have problems finding them.

thanks for the replys guys. I never had this problem until I started using my new motor. I guess it vibrates to much. it feels great until the first crash or big jump then it's hardly worth riding. I can't wait to try out my new msd caps (after Ollie drops them off)

You will like them, mine with the drypipe shook so hard, they always came loose at the wrong time. The solid tops eliminate the aluminum tip from wearing out.

idok, i found something even better than 7's for water-ingestion restarting.

it's a technique i used to use at the mx track for my old, slow 2stroke mx bike...

instead of just the regular "pull out old plug, blow off, spray with ether, try again" method, it's now "pull out old plug, blow off, spray with ether, put a lighter to it for 5-10 seconds, try again"

and i'm serious too! hahaha

how bout heating up a set of #7's with a lighter? :tomato:
