Trinity Composites XF hull + 66e = we'll find out!

I know someone with a 66e and a LPW 701 and he NEVER rides his 66e.....never!

The 701 hits harder where it counts.

Alright heres a question - what the hell is the easiest way to get the couplers off of these motors???

rope in the cylinder and a pipe through the teeth? Also are they reverse threaded?

Chain wrench (vice grips) around the flywheel.
It takes a hell of a lot more force to get the coupler off than I'd want on my head dome or crank with the rope in the cyl method.

Cool project!

you can also jam a screw driver between the teeth of the flywheel and the engine case. what ever it takes to keep the motor from turning over.

There is a tool for that but that wouldn't be any fun.

I would say that he is nuts and that you must not have ridden it. I wouldnt trade my 66e for a ported 701 ever. There is no comparison whatsoever. A 62t might pop harder to 1/4 throttle but the 66e in the mid will flat destroy that thing. In my opinion your mid is more important than your absolute bottom. unless you really like monkey jumps and throws....which arent my MO. My 66e (built by me) flat crushes my 4mil big bore (prof built) on all levels.

I think absolute bottom is the most important. I have a 760 that hits mids and highs hard and I hate it. Fun to ride? Yes. But I will see it 10 feet below me all day long in waves.......I snap off the wave and it doesn't.

I have ridden said persons 66e and LPW 701 ans same thing.......701 pops off idle and shoots off of waves. Granted are waves are close together and we need INSTANT brap....I mean instant....no chitty first 25% is even thinkable here....no way no how.

I've never needed a super low end hit. I've always thought a real low end hit was for flatwater tricks. when you're moving and jumping waves you need power at 5mph +.

I've had a ported 760 big bore (62t cyl) and a 66e in my ski. they both had power where I wanted it. I'd bet with some carb work and advanced timing and compression the 66e's power would be pretty good down low

Well riding yamanubes early this spring before it was tuned in made it pretty clear that the kawi motor and porting just isn't what I need and I really don't have the money it would take to get one to where I want.

Couplers hopefully will be here tomorrow so I can get a good idea on how well everything will line up.

I haven't cracked it open yet but why is the ebox so damn big??? CDI huge or is there extra electronics that run the powervalves or something? The plan was to put it all in a 750/800 ebox before I saw how big it was...

Dude I ride lake michigan slop everytime I ride. I disagree with all your statements completely. Show me you can flip your turd 760 in sloppy close together 1 footers....Then come here and ill give you a lesson. Not trying to be a jerk but you are talking out your sphincter my man.

SXR-Forever.......once you get use to the power range you will def be happy with it.

the 66e electronics fit in the 701 box.... it think. I"m pretty sure I saw superramjet do it in one of his builds.

ive never was impressed with the stock bore 66e, however a bigger bore with compression and tl is huge, the pipe issue was alway my biggest disappointment. Wdks pipe kinda works but its so far away from how it could be. I could never get the motor to rev as fast as the 701s but if you just prop way up you can push more water through the pump than the 701s can because of considerable more torque, and that makes up for alot, its just a different feel. I had to run mag pumps to get a nice strong pull out of the 66e's

I'm still surprised your not happy with your Kawi 800 in that light hull. Mine is tearing my arms out and I only have a pipe and flywheel on it.... (no idea what the compression is..)

I'm not knocking the SXR motor at all, it pulls great thats why I am keepin it until I see how this motor goes. But more horsepowr/torque and reliability is whats on my mine now.

Got the couplers today from ADA and set the motor in. Pretty happy with how it turned out but the whole motor is about 1/16-1/8" too high still.

I put two shims on the front mounts and it lined up pretty good with the motor at the slight angle from the shims.

Is this ok to do? I assume that you want the driveshaft and crankshaft as close to aligned as possible but not sure how to get the motor down any farther. Can I shim the pump to match the angle?? I have trim so the pump being down at an slight angle shouldn't be a problem.
