Trinity Composites XF hull + 66e = we'll find out!

SXR-FOREVER

After riding yamanube's gp SJ I've been dying for a motor like that in my hull..Well a few weeks ago I picked up a 66e, modified mounting kit, and WDK intake and started playing with it a bit (waiting for parts to put the original motor back together) and I'm liking what I see!!! Fits in the hull great and should line up with a little bit of work - just waiting on getting my couplers from ADA.

Now alot of people say this motor is way heavy - so lets see what the scales say:

GP 800 without carbs and exhaust: 91.9lbs

Kawi 800 ready to roll came in at: 92.9lbs

We'll say that my current setup on the SXR runs 110hp @ 92.9 lbs = 1.18 hp/lb

Adding 25lbs for pipe etc to the 66e brings it to 130hp*@ 116.9 lbs = 1.12 hp/lb

*added 10hp from adding a aftermarker pipe

Thats not all to shabby to have yamaha port timing and the reliability!

Are you using the Superjet Mounting kit?

How well does it line up with the Kawi motor mounts / coupler / driveshaft?

Forgot to clearify!

using a modified mounting kit that a board member made for his carbon x2

Put in a 750 shaft and it should line up with some shimming.

badass! all the hard work is done! :clown: jk

Does a Kawi coupler thread to the Yamaha with no modification (same threading/diameter)?

That porting is capable of 160hp at nearly 7000rpm, Peferable for another head if you want to push up the comp(stock can be milled a bit to use 95-oct,changing the carbs make a huge difference (we ran novis (gen 1) and custom pipe on a race wb3 back in 2000) should get 150hp with a pipe built for freestyle.

Explain please.
Can't wait to see this project finished Trev, I hope in the end you find it was worth it!

How do you think FP got 144hp with the only twin pipes and and rev limit change? You will be surprised what a set of Novi's will do to this motor.

Sorry, I was talking to the OP. only gaining 10 hp with a pipe is underrating what the 66e will do.

the 66e is at least a generation ahead of the kawi 800.

Don't mess with the crank. I have done some research on the subject and have been told to leave the crank alone by people with the most experience (and having spent the most $$) in watercraft racing. With twin pipes and an 80mm bore the engine will make about 165 hp around 7700 rpm on the dyno. The engines big advantage is its transfer area and design. The transfers give it an awsome mid range punch along with top end power. Its Dan Lameys next gen engine after his own 701 based cylinder.

Superramjet, I bet the crank in your Polaris based engine weighs a bit more than a 701 but with the power it makes you probly can't tell.
