Wondering if your needle and seat problem was similar to mine. And may have been caused by me that one time we pulled your carb apart in my old garage. =(
The inside of the seat in my carb had score marks from pulling the seat out with a pair of needle nose pliers. So when the needle should have been sliding smoothly on the inside of the seat, it was getting hung up the sides of the seat.
Didn't know I was wasn't suppose to pull the seats that way. I ended up buying a new N/S and installing it, but carl took some emery cloth to the inside of the old seat to clean up the score marks. Probably would have fixed it, but was better to just replace it.
