I set the FP to about a little under 1/2 from closed on the bottom this weekend. Added more power to the ski, but it does get a little more "throttle jerky" around 1/3 throttle. The pipe is still cool, not even close to being too hot. The top two fittings are still closed.

I finally did my first fountain Sunday, and pulled a couple subs, Sun and today. Thanks for the info Frosty. I kept smacking the hull down instead of subbing. I did not know about the really quick letting off the throttle and then mashing it, while pulling my legs up. One pretty good suicide sub today, Oops! The new footholds are going to take a little getting used to!

Everything seems to be going really good with all the new parts, no problems or concerns yet. Time to start doing some nose stabs, and getting everything else to become more routine.

Good deal Brian. Keep working on it bro, you're getting there.

I closed Eric's top screw a little more too for him.. also, we had to turn in the low speed jet 1/8 turn from the FP recommendation to get rid of a slight bog... he's running real good now.

I knew you were out yesterday you bastard!!!! I had to cut 5 acres of lawn before the rain... so I missed another great day. :frown:

It was a blast gettin' out again. I love this thing. :Banane01:

Last night I checked my cylinder pressures, engine cold, with the throttle wide open, other plug still in. I had 140 lbs front and 135 lbs rear. I tried to check squish, but the solder I had was .062 thick and did not make contact with the piston at all. I have to get some thicker solder and try again.

I hope to get out this weekend, but I'm working extra to try and save some money up for the hand pole.

Man, that is low. Without reading this entire thread again, is your ski ported at all? Most SXR's are about 160-170lbs. Double check with someone else's gauge. What's it read warm?

No still stock with Wet pipe. I'll check it next time warm. I'm also going to check another '05 SXR with my gauge and see how it is.

I am holding you responsible for me having to go spend more money on my ski. I am about to do the my footwells and I was just going to slap on the railcaps with the white that they come with. But, after seeing how nice yours looks with them painted I decided that im going to have mine painted too. My ski is the older kandy green so i will have it matched to that color. And I am goint to go with the stitched mat kit.

I hope that I can do as nice of a job as you did. It looks amazing. Very impressive.

Thanks! It took more time than I thought, but I think it was worth it. If I had to do it all again, I would paint the rail caps, after installation. Then put the 5200 on the outside edge. I think it would leave a cleaner line than taping it off.

It was all definitely worth it!

Well, I finally ordered a handpole and spent all my money on the RRP setup with the Blowsion carbon fiber cover, UMI steering, handlebars, ODI's etc. The next day, while I'm launching, I see a sail boat coming in fast and hard to the dock. So I quickly move out of the way before he slams into me and I decide to go to the side of the launch where I tell everyone not to launch from, because it is never dregded correctly there. I hit the throttle and as soon as I do, I can hear and feel the stones hitting me, so I shut it off and clean it out. I decide that it does not look too bad so I ride it only to discover that it running hot. I thought maybe it was sea weed stuck in the FP jets, but it was cavitation from the slightly bent prop. To make a long story short, I should not have ridden it that day.

Welcome to the blown up club. Wiseco is backordered on SXR pistons until 7/17. However, Atlantic jetsports hooked me up with some WSM's. I hear they last longer anyway. Good luck on your rebuild.

DJ-Better measure those WSM. i hear they can be way off.
I've never run them but I've heard there crap.
Go with Pro-X or OEM if Wiseco's are not available. I've run all 3.
You might be able to get way with just a hone and new pistons

I'd post more picts and details but my Verizon internet is down for three days, so I had to do these at work. The bore and pistons all still measure within OEM spec, so after checking with Paul at Magoo's and JSU I quickly honed it and slapped it back together. I had about a 10% pressure drop in the front cyl, so Paul suggested I pull it apart to make sure I did not crack a ring. I'm going to keep and eye on the pressure and then do a total rebuild in the winter. If there are no more issues. The bore was egg shaped in the bottom picture about -.003 X +.001 at the bottom where the scuffs are. We are not sure if it was already like that or if it came like that from the factory. Probably from the heat. The pistons measure 3.2235 and 3.2240, and the Bore measures 3.229 +or- .0005. Except at the bottom of cyl one where the egg shape is. Good thing was that when I had it apart I was able to check squish, CC the domes, and cc the entire combustion cylinder at TDC. Piston to deck is approx .035" Squish is approx .090 with modeling clay, and dial calipers. I was told the head gasket is .022 stock, but have not measured it yet. Head is 31 CC's, combustion chamber is 35 cc's. I just need to cc my cc checking gauge here at work later today to confirm the readings. I finally broke down and bought a real burette. Going to put the rest of the motor back together tonight. Then on to the jet pump. I also bought a new Skat trak scoop intake grate and Solas 13/21 5mm cut back prop from Impros. My pump has a few rock marks in the front part of the vaines, but nothing too major, I hope. I'll post more damage picts when Verizon decides to fix my service!

You can see the dinged impeller blade in the second picture. Here are some of the photos of the pump and it going back together. I also added the composite pump cavity close offs while I had it apart.

I broke the motor back in today in some 2-4' surf. Thanks to Blowsion for getting me my parts for the weekend! Hopefully, I may have my first video of us riding. A buddy of ours who just bought a SXi was taping. I was not beating on it too much, but it seems to have killer power on the low end now. The grate and impeller have really seemed to help!

I'll retest the pressure on it this week. We also checked my buddys '05 SXR with my gauge, cold, and his was also 140 psi on both cyls.

The CC's are correct within .3 cc's so I am pretty sure the numbers I have are good.

We went out Tuesday, but I have not been out since. It hooks up great now. I just want to dial it in on a flat day. I still really want to know what the motor temp is when I am riding. Maybe it's time to try that fish tank thermometer thread I saw on here out.

Took the Couch down to Sunset Bay for Sat. That place was packed! It's great transportation, but so is a bus!
