I was wondering where you can find what is circled in the pic in the smoother non vented style? I think AJS has it (R&D Carbon/F Hood Cowling)...is this it? If it has no vents does this change anything, in other words would I need to replace the hood with a vented one?

I would say just fill in your stocker with resin from behind and then spray that lil section black. I did.

It helps but I think ultimately you will need to cover the OEM air holes on the front of your hood and then add holes near the OEM hood drains to make up for it.

I did both of these and my ski stays very dry.

Did yours break? Consider bolts or zip-ties to patch it up or you could probably get one used cheap.

These removable cowlings are the weakest point of an sj, imo. I've busted several oem's and a wcf twice. I've filled and am glassing that area on a square tonight actually. The square cowlings are a joke.

I have one made of fiberglass made to match stock hood but lower in front then stock, no through holes like in sides of stock. I will get pics on a boath and one off the boat too. Toby here in town makes them, nice piece and very stought. PM me if interested. The boat in my avatar is sporting one althought hard to see. This one is cheaper than BLowsion and much nicer too, but simular concept.

I'm just getting info for some future plans...my initial thought is that (1) it's ugly (2) the vents seem un aero-dynamic and (3) it is cheap and seems like it would break easily.

I'm not sure if this is a stock hood on this one or if it's even a stock hull, but I'm assuming you can buy one like that, or make one if it comes to that...

The hood & nose cowling on Nicolas Ruiz's ski (Black ski you posted) is made by R-pot in Lake Havasu, AZ for R&D racing. I don't think the nose cowling will line up with a stock hood though. I dont have R-pots number but you can contact R&D at 562-906-1190.

I dont know of anyone who makes a stream lined nose cowl replacement to match the stock hood. I'm attempting to make my own. I'll post more pics later.
