So I needed to remove some sticker residue after pulling my stock SX-R decals on my 2003 ski. I have always been a HUGE fan of Rapid Remover and have used it for all my needs but I decided to try some others for a nice little objective comparison writeup.

The players involved are as follows:

Rapid Remover

Gumout Carb Cleaner

Professional Strength Goof Off

The carb cleaner flashed a little too fast and although it worked reasonably well on smaller areas, it was completely out-performed by the other two strippers .

My beloved Rapid Remover made me proud as ever and with a few sprays, a little wait, and some scraping with a hard squeegee, the residue scraped off pretty well. I had to reapply a little but all went well enough.

Professional Strength Goof Off was a bit of a surprise. I guess I was under the assumption that Goof Off was essentially the same as Goo Gone and since it usually sits in the paint isle at Lowe's, how great could it possibly be? Goof Off kicked so much ass. After it kicked the residue's ass and took its lunch money, it made the sticker goo put on a skirt and sing I'm a little teapot.

So in summation, Goof Off is cheap, easy to get, and is so badass that it's gonna ask your ugly sister out on a date but when she gets to the restaurant, it's not gonna be there.

for those that dont know; decal removal wheel peels the sticker and residue in one swipe. i will never peel a sticker any other way.

Shonuff, you are THE MAN!
I have been removing the stock stickers from my 90 SJ this weekend and, as with all previous skis, sticker residue removal is my wife's job.
Unfortunately these old stickers are tougher (anything built by the Japanese always lasts longer) than others have been.
She has been struggling with Goo B Gone without much success!.
She is off to the store now for a supply of Goof off.:bigok:

Let us know if it works better. The old stickers on my Blaster are a pain. I'm trying to hunt down a local store with a decal removal wheel. NAPA maybe?

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
Heat gun- run it over the decal a little, but not too much! Decal will come off MUCH easier.... then use the Goof-off for leftover residue... works like magic. Used it on many various decals from less than one year old to many over 10 years.

Bluegtate and I are true believers in goof-off, but for his ski we just turfed, he used "Opps remover" and it worked even better, plus it had a citrus smell.

Rumor has it that they are gonna stop selling goof-off in California.

I picked up one of these wheels after reading about them and they are bomb, you don't even have to touch the sticker at all just hit it with the wheel in a drill. The only thing is be careful not to get the wheel spinning to fast and be light with the pressure cause it can leave blemishes on cretin parts of the ski due to hight amount of friction (heat) I got mine at baxters, so i assume they should be easy to find at any auto store. Highly recommended!

Well hey I have a little problem, I pulled the decals off my FX1, and spent like 3 hours using acetone, trying to get the residue off, I only got the hood, everything else was all sticky. I finally said, f**k it...I just took it out for a ride and now its all hardened and smooth and I cant get it off at all...what should i use for that?

My FX1 is my avatar, I used a razor blade to cut around the FX1 and then I peeled it all off...
