Eh,, how big does it need to be? I'm on a Superjet and the only space left is if i could mount it on top of my battery.. will a 6inch bottle pass?

my new thing that has been working pretty well is stuffing the extinguisher in an old slippery boot liner then jamming it betweent the flywheel cover and battery box. nice tight fit and I land 99.9999% of the time upside down and it has been staying in place pretty well.

Thats exactly where I put mine now too! I ditch it at the beach though.

The kiddie PWC model is the smallest one that is actually legal. The coast guard requirement specifies the size in addition to type. That said the smaller kitchen types will likely fool many cops or at least buy you a warning rather than a ticket though.

I do believe it has to be a minimum of 2.5lb BC coastguard approved extinguisher. The B stands for flammable liquids and the C means it can be used on electrical components. Not sure why They dont require an ABC which is for everything but they don't. Homedepot carries a short and fat 2.5lb marine extinguisher that might work to strap on your battery. The pound rating is the weight of the powder not the extinguisher.

does anyone know if the cops care how hard the thing is to get out? or as long as you have one, and it doesent need tools to get it out?

Have you ever notice how unfriendly the stock superjet extinguisher it to get out. I don't think would be a factor:bigeyes: It comes down to it being the principal of the rules say you gotta have one.

fire extinguisher

my version of a fire extinguisher is to kick off the hood and do a sub. I dont really want to reach into the engine compartment to grab a hot azz metal canister that wont work anyway. also, i am a freakin pyro so i would probably make it worse before spraying that white gizz all over the place.
