Thursday update on kyle
Just thought I would pass along the news.
"We had some good news this morning on Kyle. A test was run to check for ligament damage in his neck and the results were good- there is no injury. As a result, his neck brace was removed and this will enable him to be more comfortable. An EEG was also run to check brain activity but we won't get those results until tomorrow. There are reasons to be thankful regarding his condition. He does not have any spinal/neck damage. He is making purposeful movements with both legs and his left arm (he moves his right arm but not as much). Our biggest concern is that Kyle has still not opened his eyes or woken up. That is the most difficult thing for us. The doctors say this is not uncommon but it is very difficult to be patient. Kyle has several things in his favor- his age, determination and friends and family that are pulling for him. We need to remember that the timing for waking up will be determined by Kyle and God and, boy, that's some dynamic duo! The hospital gave us an information booklet on brain injuries. There is an inspiring letter in the booklet from a person who suffered a brain injury in a car accident. She was in a coma for 24 days, intensive care for 30 days and hospitalized for a number of months. Her injury left her with both physical and cognitive problems. But here is the inspiring part. She had an impressive recovery, returned to college and graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy! With that story in mind, please continue to pray for Kyle's full recovery."
Continue to keep this guy in your thoughts. He needs as much positive energy going his way as possible.
