If you base part of the voting on a panel of judges that ride the ski's, and there is only one build class, then I feel the panel of judges need to range from the absolute novice to the professional.

Once the judges have made their decision, then their votes are averaged and totaled with the votes of the spectators.

This would give the small builders that don't have plutonium under their hood, the same chance as the Magoo and WF boats. the novices would not be able to handle the high powered nuclear fueled boats, giving them lower marks and the pro's would not be as impressed with the small builders boats with stock power plants.

othrwise you need to have two classes, pro and amateur jike like in freestyle competition.

The idea is great, but i might as well give up then. We all know you have the biggest motors, which in turn will produce the most power. I'll be running a stock stroke boat, and for sure wont be able to compare with your 8mil lamey.

Actually, I dont like the monstor power that Pauls ski makes, dont get me wrong, it hits hard, but does not work for my riding style......... Superramjet has ridden my ski, I think he can comment on it....... If yours was tuned good and made all around good power, I would be more inclined to vote in your direction than in the Fire Breather Direction......... Just my riding style...

Best running 550 i ever rode.

Just kidding, it was a very well tuned, solid ski. It had the perfect freestyle powerband. It didn't have a stroker crank or $1000 set of carbs on it either. He also rode it the entire weekend without lifting the hood.
(of course tailstands aren't really that hard on a ski)

How about a peoples choice and a builders choice?. The builders range from amateur to pro and can appreciate every detail on the other builder's skis.

I like the idea ! but let's focus on the criteria of the bike shows... details, wow factor, and overall asthetics. I like the judging panel idea as long as we have no "bias" judges ( keep Stoyer out of the riding judges!!:bs2: )

I'm sure Paul will probably have the biggest, baddest motor out there (10mm!!!) but will it fit in that 440?? :27:

Are we talking about a 200+ HP friggin' ski man?!?!?

OMG. My lifted 4.0 Jeep with 33's only had 190HP!!

Whatever we decide, lets not make it too complicated. Then the fun factor goes out the window.

I don't think we need a point system or anything... The most votes wins. The judges votes are weighted a little more to make up 25% of the votes.

It's much simpler..... and more fun:headbang:

WoW, I guess most like the idea!! thats really cool!!

The build off to me, Isn't who has the biggest whatever motor. It's who has the best overall package. Looks, performance, WoW factor, rideability.

I agree Static boat shows are boring. To make these boats be able to perform is a key element in the build. That needs to be showcased in some manner. I also agree that a peoples choice is a popularity contest to a degree. But it's also gives the most favorable results.

It's simply not possible to let everyone in attendance ride these machines. But the riding judges need to know how a custom FS boat is supose to preform. Putting a complete amature on a mod boat is dangerous, reguardless of who it's built by. experiance is a definate key.

I have some friends who judge custom auto shows. I'm going to ask them what sort of criteria they use & see if its adaptable for our use.

Please keep in mind that this is only an idea. I'm exploring a possibility,
the final decision will be a vote by the builders of this contest.

Keep the ideas rolling in, there is a lot of good stuff coming for you all.

Exactly... But I think there are some good ideas being tossed around here.

Everybody needs to keep in mind that for this to work, the ride will have to be more organized. Say, like with a schedule... eeeeek!?:scared: :scared: :scared: So that way everybody can be there to see or ride or vote, etc.

On another note... since my current project will not be ready for Texas, maybe I need to enter it at Lanier... one more underdog.

If the Geek is coming, he would be good.

Other possible judges:

Darin (Superjett: FSF Founder)
Ross C (This guy can roll anything: Kawis, SJ, FX1, X2)
Legdrag Pete (He's got the energy for sure)
Jetskee (We need one Kawi Guy to mix it up)

Just a few suggestions. Trying to think of people who are not affiliated. I trust
yamaslut and Pancake, but some might shout :bs2:
