Okay so I take the X2 out today ,it totally rips everything is going great then I come off jumping a wake, fire it back up start to take off and it dies, start it again same thing, then I notice it is listing way to the left and you know what happens next,YEP it sinks. Here we go again, turns out the hood seal leaks like a screen door and anytime that side goes underwater it starts taking on water. These non adjustable BS Kawi hood latches have got to go,looking at some on Mcmastercarr that are stainless and adjustable, also I think it need two sets of latches, one set in basically the stock location and one set up high on the back of the hood.Somethings got to give here.:sadwavey:

YOu probably have the old single lip style, get a new double lip 93 and up.

I cant imagine the hood seal leaked that bad to sink the ski. Are you sure it wasnt leaking somewhere else? When I had my original 86, 1/4 of the seal was missing, and it didnt leak enough, that the bilge pump couldnt keep up with it. Only sunk that one when the driveshaft bearing went. If you drill/dremel out the 4 latch mount holes lower, you can then retighten them.... and the latches will clamp the hood down alot tighter.

Agreed with Crab, the 93+ seals are ALOT better then the old ones.

dam wedo you sink that x2 more than the navy submerge there subs :sad6:. have you got the bilge pump in yet .
ive sunk well not fully sunk just enough to fill the engine up a few times this year , it does tend to fill up pretty fast when i have it enough water to fill the engine up . im still running the old single lip seal and one off my latches is loose and needs redoing thats what i put mine water problems down to .
hope you have some luck sealing yours up wedo im sure you are sick off the sinking feeling buy now

When I got it to shore and tilted it over to the left water started pouring out the left bottom corner of the hood, this was before I opened the hood latch, thats why I know it is leaking there, also I could hear the water pouring in there on the left side while I was swimming it in.It appears the hood is not only not tightening down enough it is not being squeezed in far enough as well.Besides isn't the Mach 5 supposed to be able to go underwater?

Well I feel your pain. On my 93 X2, every single time I do a sub, the pressure is enough to pop the hood latches off. So I do a sub and then I have to stop and relatch them. Or I baby it around and reach down and latch them.

I don't have a bilge pump either, just teh stocker. It is the larger size one since the ski is a 93 and it get the water out pretty fast.

But... :(:(:( The ski lists to one side pretty bad when I have it in the water. I need to weigh it to make sure. However I think we all know what the problem may be. No one jinx me though... We shall not speak of this problem again.

I took Crabs advice and bought a brand new double lip seal from bikebandit.com.
Well worth it. I had to adjust my hood latches because it was WAY too tight in the stock positions. It was busting my hood to close the latches.

It is a 92 so it is a single lip seal,I guess thats where I need to start,I will be doing something with these latches today though even if its wrong.

Yeah I am debating on adding some small say 6" long hood straps to hold my hood for "just in case" scenarios...

It isn't uncommon for me to do a sub or nose stab and have both latches hanging wide open. Luckily the hood seal is holding the hood in place or else I would have sunk this ski a dozen times already! How many sinkings are you up too now Wedoo? 2?, 3?, FOUR?

Three so far good thing is my floatation still works,I will keep checking it though just to be sure.I did order some stainless adjustable latches with safety catches from Mcmastercarr today.they will be here tomorrow and we will see how they work,if not I can always send them back and go again.

You probably have to remove the small black rubber pieces that are glued to the bottom of the hood just in front of the latch, they wouldn't allow mine to come down all the way either.
