my banshee has twin stock pipes and it is very quiet, my buddy has A/M twin pipes and it is alot louder, and alot faster. my ski is loud but it also rips pretty good so i tolerate the noise. loud pipes make power. just comes with the territory.

a banshee with stock pipes................ dude what are you doing.......:jester:

a banshee with toomeys is one of the greatest sounds in the world.

The only excuse for loud jetskis is ... Youth. Young people are discovering their machines and the industry. They want more power like every one else. They just usually have less money. Money for expensive exhaust. Eventually they understand the sound/power ratio don't add up. Then they get expensive exhaust. Maybe some never learn.

i know, my banshee is pretty much stock, just a -1 tooth up front, and +3 timing. eventually i will get stuff for it. i think suspension before pipes because its pretty fast, for me. A piped banshee like my buddies screams and with the noise, blew mine away. the new 4 strokes are ridiculous loud too, but they dig hard, and are very fast. you can't hear my quad on my outer track but the 250 and 450 thumpers can be heard around the entire 7 acres. i think loud stuff is cool but understand that alot of people don't. we try not to piss anyone off when we ride, but it can happen.

I've been through the LOUD thing before. I had a 85 550 back in the day with a Mariner water box & above bond line exhaust. You could hear it for miles. I've had a 750 sxi pro with a TDR. I've had cans on sleds. They all sound good! But it not worth the hassle. I've gotten bad looks and tickets on sleds.
Your everyday RIDE needs ro be quiet. It's OK maybe it's a 2nd back up ride or the races. Some of the GP boats just scream. Most of the time I agree LOUD IS FAST but not for jetski's or sleds. Ever hear a top fuel drag?

I've been through the loud jetski phase.
After pissing everyone around me off and getting chased from a riding spot, I decided enough was enough. I went back to a stock waterbox and rear exhaust only. Absolutely no drop in power, and everyone is much happier.

at work we sponsor our one employee that likes to drag race, he is just starting out so we help him where we can, he raced on pinks in cayuga but they didn't choose his bracket for the show. our form supplier is a top drag racer, they wait for him to come to the line. oh yeah loud is fast. :) remember the thundercat sleds, man they made some noise, lol.

There's a few non-waterboxed 440's and 550's at our lake. They are annoying as #ell, but like posted before. No cash for ex. Newer diesel's are a lot quieter now. I have an older f-250 w/ a 7.3 that sounds like an old tractor. Everybody always bitches about how loud it is. 10 yrs ago it was the $#1t. But times change. I love it when the little cars with cantaloupe shooters try and race. :Banane19:

My ski is sort of loud, but not by choice. If it where as easy as dropping a waterbox in it I would have a quite ski.

Mine always seems to be the loudest one on the lake, mostly as it's going away from shore. Sounds good and throaty. Get a lot of people saying how good it sounds, never had anyone say it was annoying. It wasn't quite as loud with the stock waterbox, that I replaced because something inside it was rattling around. I put an alum. TDR waterbox on it and have a Factory Dry Pipe. I think that pipe is naturally loud anyway. I think there's a difference in annoyingly loud, and good throaty loud, and until someone actually tells me they are annoyed by my ski I'll leave it as is.

I just remembered one of the other skis that sticks out in my mind and it was kx454's SXR down in Daytona 2007 I think. I video'd it because the people standing next to me on the pier (flatwater clinic) were talking about how annoying it was.

the TDR is the loudest on the market...louder than Xmetal, we have done a back to back comparison

drypipes will be louder than a wetpipe imagine that...

they all sound good when they first hit the water and all you hear is blip blip blip....

but wehn you start ripping across the lake at a steady mid-high RPM that is when they start getting annoying

The loud noise was why I stopped riding my 550, with a factoy/mariner pipe and L&S waterbox. My ears would ring for days, I would wear ear plugs.... and like someone said in an earlier post you are doing 35mph in a straight line......ha,ha. I still have it I am trying to figure out what to do with it.
