I forgot!
A crucial thing about porting 62T cases: You HAVE to fill the voids on the top with epoxy, because porting will remove material from the bottom.

do you mean the voids that look like they are cooling passages? i seen a set of 62t cases at smitty's house that had those voids all filled in with what looked like a liquid epoxy, then huge porting and the fingers were removed if i remember correctly.
is there a picture of stock vs ported 62t cases from both sides? The one in the porting thread has two but i was not sure if the one picture was off a kawi.

There are no Kawi pics in the porting thread. And yes, those are the voids I was talking about.

i sat the sport port templates in my small pin 750 cylinder today and took some pics for you guys in case you are intrested in seeing the kawi template diffrences to the factory ports.in the 3rd pic you can see the template is already 1mm higher on the bottom off the ex port already and you cant see in the pic but it is the same on the top off the ex port as well . so the height stays the same just the with odd the port abd the shape will be changed

No like winter
In boredom between classes today I was doing a lot of research on porting and remembered this thread, the macdizzy site about cylinder mapping was also incredibly informational. I was just wondering... all you guys that bought the templates from race logic.

How do you like your motors since you have completed them (assuming that you all have)

looking for some feedback... and considering doing some work to my motor this winter because it makes the time go by when its cold...

lets hear it:biggthumpup:

And it's cheap. Bang for your buck, it's impossible to beat (not counting hours of work and nervous sweat here!)

Thought I would mention this though, if you are not willing to take the risk of scrapping out your cylinders, I would send them to a professional. The risk is limited by the templates since you know where to cut, but if you do something wrong, you could easily lose performance or scrap out a sleeve and / or cylinder.

Yeah, but doing something so drastically wrong that you have to scrap would take a few hours of doing it wrong. LOL.

Anyhow, you do need to be prepared to at least hone it. If you've never done it before, plan on boring, new pistons and rings.

I did the Race Logic templates on mine after I installed new OEM sleeves I bought from Wamiltons. I was a little nervous at first. Took it to a local shop to check the chamfer, and they said it looked good. I've only put a few tanks through it, and it runs great. Can't compare it to a stock 701, since my previous motor was a 650. Huge difference between them though.

I do have another cylinder I'm thinking about send to LPW now.
