I dont think it should be only "run what you brung." They should divide amatuer into 2 seperate classes, ONE can be run what you brung, but the other class should be stock hulls, and should be allowed a maximum cc size, I dont know if you guys think 800cc is fair or not, but lets say for this purpose, everyone agrees. this 2nd amateur class should be a class with a limit on motor specs and mods, that way it can stay CHEAP and affordable.
I say that because my prime example is Jesse Martin, waste land. The kid busts his ass when he rides to be better, and works hard to save his pennies to make hsi ski better. He goes out there and competes on a virtually underpowered (compared to other am freestylers) ski, and still throws together a solid, ass kicking run. After watching his run in nashville I was really impressed with what he could do on that ski, not that its a bad ski at all.
But if you let amateur and pro freestyle be ONLY a run what you brung class, people like jesse will get F***ED out of hard work and what they deserve. Pro does not need 2 classes like amatuer in my eyes, cuz if your a pro, run what you brung is part of the game IMO. Let the people who dont have $$$ growing on trees be competitive in the "amateur spec" freestyle class
