I dont make a living at this, I dont do it for life and death. This is justa sport/hobby that I'm into and love doing. You can kick my ass or lose to me on a aftermarket hull. I dont care. But ********, if your gonna have rules.....enforce the damn things.

Better equipment means bigger ampitude. No you may not be the best rider but you'll be going bigger then you would if your on the legal stuff.

Splitting the AMs is just gonna make it worse....and run what ya brung in all or upping the rules more will be even worse IMO. It's already hard to get guys to compete....now everyone that can will have AM hulls and strokers......now try to getting more people to compete that cant afford that stuff. While not always the deciding factor....its intimidating.

Wasteland for President, BK for Vice...

I would like to see new rules where all Amateurs use ALL(top and bottom deck) stock hulls and 800cc or under..

this is stupid........... plain and simple if u wanna run amateur run a stock hull with no sponsors...... if u wanna get sponsors to defray costs...... wel act like a pro and compete pro....... plain and simple just make the rules stock hull with hin number and no sponsorship badges what so ever on your ski..... stock bore and stroke motors....... allow minor mods like footholds, poles, pipes, and hand holds ....... and leave the run what u brung crap to the guys who wanna be pro...... i think ud attract alot more interest on teh amateur level if u leveled the amateur playing field..... u might also make the sponsors feel more comfortable with spending thier money if they know the guys they are sponsoring are approaching this more seriously than the amateur level

It's funny how the guys that oppose the "Run what you brung" rule all have stock hulls and under 800cc motors!:cool2: I don't see anybody here that as an AM hull and over 800cc object.....anybody!

It was "The rules" that held me from competing at Nationals and WF this year:bs2: Just knowing of a certain individual that would go out of his way to get me DQ'd has totally turn me off from competing. I really enjoy riding my lightweight BF 6mm 850cc beast! more so than entering any BS competition .

I do , however , plan on competing in The hot water tour this year. I spoke to the promoters already and they said to "Run what's you brung":woot: :arms:

As far as I'm concerned, the superstock rules is what killed racing. Since implementing those rules, most manufacturers and AM companies started pulling out of racing. IS this what we want for our "Sport"??:bs2:

Hey Steve, I understand what you are saying, but keep in mind, that if that one person boycotted you, he would also have to boycot a friend of his........ similar to mutual assured distruction!!!!!!!!!!

Come compete with us next year.

Sorry man, but your way off. Having sponsors doesnt make you pro or even near pro. You know as well as i do; its a trade of advertisements for free or discounted service/products or any some cases....guys just being super ********ing nice. Like Chick, He pays a few guys entree fees. Without Chick...I wouldnt compete because of the costs. Hell, I could pick up money sponsors because im a damn good sales man not because of some rank

Your cool and all but "cant have sponsors in AM" is ********ing retarded. Honestly....it makes no sense.

So what do i do.I want to start building this thing.the am class should have 2 rules under 800cc and a total weight rule.tech them before the compete and if they dont make weight make them add it till it does.

How did the implementing of Superstock rules kill the sport? Or by that statement do you mean, doing away with mod class and instating superstock? I think the aftermarket used to be, and can be again, one of the big money supporters in the game. just my .02

Who are you?!? :dunno:

Oh yeah---you're the guy who started this thread.

Big Kahuna kinda' answered your question earlier in the first page.

AM Freestyle, Only the hull can be aftermarket... Top Deck must be OEM...

Pro Freestyle Hull and Top Deck can be aftermarket........

As far as regional competition goes, nobody says anything..... But hey, got to WF, they sure as hell are not going to Tech.......

Those are the current rules. Will any new rules that change this situation be announced soon enough for you to build what you want?:dunno:

I think you should really evaluate how serious you are about "competing" and how important it is for you to be "legal" to do so. Will you go to Nationals if you qualify? What about Worlds? I would build what you WANT in a ski to ride first and worry about the competition "what-ifs" when they come up. Pat Bogart is a great example of this. He hasn't ridden an OEM-hull much in the past few years, but when he went to the Nationals and Worlds, he showed up on rule-book legal equipment. I'm pretty sure he's back on his Watercraft Factory ski by now, though.

Steve, come on, lets be realistic here. How much is your ski worth 25-30 grand?
Why would a kid who is thinking of competing in freestyle go up against that? How satisfying would it be to win when you have pro level equipment against nearly stock?
That is an amazing ski you built no doubt, but it has no business in am freestyle. Its like putting Macs sxr in novice stock class!
I agree, pro should be "run what you brung", but I think AM needs to be within the rules, and enforced. I think these hulls and huge motors are killing the growth of freestyle. Level the playing field, and let the best rider win. I believe AM freestyle needs a grass roots feel. This will encourage guys to give it a shot. JMO

That is so funny you say that...

Its obvious that you want A/M hulls in the amateur class, you build them for christs sake!

So who makes the rules?

Ronny is right on track... Great post!

no it makes alot of sense.......... what doesnt make sense is your idea of what a sponsor is........ u dont have sponsors..... u have supporters...... lets be real here chick isnt buyin crapola for advertisement when he pays your entry fees hes helpin u out........ to even consider him a sponsor is ridiculous...... hes a damn good guy who appreciates the sport and recognizes the guys who are worth supporting to help the sport move forward and grow.......... and if your accepting "discounted parts " that u buy from someone as a sponsorship your a fool............. your paying them to put their name on your ski....... jesse your cool as hell but u my friend have alot to learn about business....... and BUSINESS is what seperates pro and am.......... not some nasa designed carbon bamboo weaved hull and billion cc stroker vibrator ....... jesus Fl_lCK

I wont be competing for verry long unless they come up with a "open class" unlimited mods. My next boat probably wont be legal even in the pro class.....kinda like the WD hulls.......but not

There are so many things that have never been done in the pwc industry. That will start to change over time as I see it.
