I still can't believe that tiny battery can crank the motor. I tried it for a couple weekends just rubber banded in the old plastic battery tray before I made this new battery try. Stainless steel and complete with gas tank hold down. Just wanted to share it with you guys so you can get some ideas if you want to do something similar.

Myth............ concrete has no effect on the electrons in the battery. LOL

I believe they are not supposed to be charged on the ground due to potential spark. If you have fuel around... boom... the same reason why they changed code on water heaters to be raised off the floor.

good point alot of us probably do have gas cans in the garage, and therefore vapors that can lurk at the floor, i have never had a :firedevil: yet but usually charge the battery in the ski, i guess the bilge could have vapors too. knock on wood i guess. something to keep in mind for sure.

refoaming and resealing with a lighter density foam is a good start, scap all the useless stuff like fuel selector/extra fuel lines, every part that goes onto the ski be aware of its weight and if you can buy aftermarket or something lighter use it, remove all the heavy rubber nose/rail pieces, cut 4-5" off your handpole, grind the ribs off the sides of the inside of the hull, any excess factory glue etc, etc, basically strip your ski down to bare hull and only reinstall the necessities and find as many light parts as possible. it not rocket science. search post to see what parts people have used to lighten different aspects of there ski, a pound here and an ounce there isn't going to make a difference but when you loose it over the entire ski it all adds up and if a 12 lbs battery is noticable then so will an additional 18-20+ lbs off you hull/motor. oh buy a nice light hood too.

ive been reading lots of threads what am hood would you suggest? Theyre so expensive. How much weight can you lose by getting a different hood?

well you gotta pay to play. There are alot of good hoods out for a RN hull. I have only seen and tried (on other guys skis) the 24/7 and Watercraft factory. Both are the fiberglass versions. Both are very strong but not overly light. That could be changed if you talk to the builders. freestylegeek has a XFT hood and it seems to be a very well designed hood and i think it is light too. Look for what trinity comp. is coming out with in the near future. i think it may be the "one"

If durability is what your looking for and extreme light weight then think about Trinity some more.. I got t-boned racing last weekend so bad it shattered the handhold clear out of the ski, scratched the paint to hell and left a a gaping hole where the hold was. yet no damage to the hood what so ever.. and it weighs in at 8lbs...... nuff said

He (Bobby) had a SXR style bottom deck at Sebastian on Sunday. It was so friggen light but seemed super super solid. The craftsmanship (looks) were great also. Can't wait to see one of these with a topdeck (am or rn) on it. :bigok:

how does something blow something out of the water when it has not been tested yet????

just curious..........

Harrison, When you see what it goes through you will understand..... read JMikes post.

This isnt Bobby's first time doing this..... everything layup wise, is already proven.... it does not need "testing".... The stuff Bobby knows is way over my head..

I know the hood is good, but the hull has not been tested on the water.... that my point, it may be indestructable but could handle like shiet on the water.......... (I am not questioning quality of construction).......

Everything has to go through R&D at some point......

His boats have won the IJSBA World Cahmpionship in Pro Freestyle..

I think that says something.... I know it was in conjunction w/ malone, but who cares.... Bobby isn't a rookie in hull designing

Like I said, not questioning his abilities........... Is this hull an exact copy of the EME? If so, then no worries, if different there will be some R&D time on it before it goes full production......... That my point.........

The point is he forgot more than we will ever know about the subject....

He designed one world class hull, what would make you think he could not do it again??? He obviously knows something about hydrodynamics and aerodynamics... This ******** is not rocket science, but if need that, he can probably do that too...

Have you ever spoke to him???

As mentioned, the R&D was completed back in 05.... this boat will be even stronger (probably 50%-60% stronger with the difference in materials/layup) , as it will weigh about 60/65lbs..... wich around 20lbs more material then Malones 05 Boat.... The bottom will be damn near the same as EME..... as that bottom is damn near the same as Kawasaki.
