I have used mixed gas more than six months old but I wouldn't recommend it. 3-4 months is about as old as I would feel comfortable with in my ski. My weed eater on the other hand, if it burns it I'll use it.

on a high compression engine, I will only to about 1 month. Others my max is about 2 months. Lawn mower and weed eater = Anything that will burn.

They SAY, ethanol has a shelf live of 3 months. However, it starts to break down (into gas and alcohol) as fast as 2 weeks (lots of contributing variables).

I just had to go through my carbs and replace the o rings on the needle and seat because I had some gas that sat about 3-4 weeks. Not to mention some unknown chit that came out of my tank and my fuel filter.

I am really surprised that I have not heard of more problems on here, with skis sitting for longer periods. Ethanol is not much of a problem for cars, because they typically do not sit that long and the fuel system is "sealed".

Ethanol has turned the boating industry upside down.

Thank God I just found a local station that just started to sell ethanol-free gas...

WOW everyones posting some fairly short fuel life spans, are these "Opinions" or does any one have any facts behind there thories of fuel going bad so soon. On a similar subject, I just pulled out my old YZ 125 which has not been ridden since last May (7 months ago). It kicked over on the very first try with that 7 month old gas in it.

my concern really isnt about the gas itself being bad....but because it is premixed already, will the gas break down the oil after a while or will it affect its ability to properly lubricate the motor? come on , theres gotta be some kinda rocket scientist in here that can ejemakate us common folk!

its been sitting in the earth for 300 million years. i don't think its gonna loose lubricating abilities in 6 monthes..

when it has two stroke oil in it it will last much longer i would say you will be fine if it is premixed. If you are worried just mix it in with fresh gas a gallon at a time.

i had 4 four stroke quads with bad gas at my cabin, the two strokes started right up.

they have all had the gas in them the same amount of time.

I will be running stabil in them from now on and running the gas out of the carbs when they get put away.

I agree with you. I have year old gas i use that works just fine. But part of it probably has to do with the climate the person is storing the gas in.

i believe there will be a problem. when it sits for so long the oil settles and gets gunky. i let mine sit all winter last year and it wouldnt start the next year. took me so long to figure out the problem but it was the fuel mixture that wasnt igniting. as soon as i put fresh fuel and oil in it fired right up.

pump gas is good for 2 years or so if in a closed dark jug.
the oil may separate but a quick shake will mix it right back up.
