So...i was reaaaaaal bored tonight...so i figured i would make a backing plate out of a scrap razor scooter. The pictures pretty much explain it all:

Now....here is where it was a pain in the butt. I had to cut out four notches on each side so we can get some washers and nuts onto the bracket bolts.

i cut four slits on each side of the plate, and then cut the plate down to pop out the slits:

be carefull with aluminum backing plates... i had my x metal backing plate on my ski for only 8 months and it caused so much corrosion that it was damn near impossible to remove my waterdawg handle pole bracket...

That's because you used an aluminum pole with steel bolts. Galvanic corrosion will get ya every time!

I have some of that 1/8 stainless, and am planning on making two for Experimental's boat, one under (inside boat) and one outside on top under mount. LOts of strength.

i would have loved to use some stainless...i just do not have the tools to carve out a breather hole for the tube.

Woody,

It must be boring living in the snow, bud.

just stop it lol :hitwithrock:

if you meant stainless steel, then yes that is what i used... i am now running no backing plate, though under the handle pole bracket area is heavily re-enforced, and a stainless x-metal/wamiltons bracket with new stainless hardware... i much prefer the nut and bolt style hardware of the wamiltons bracket as opposed to the stud/bolt system of the blowsion and wdk brackets.
