FX-1 Gp800 in a fx1?

Maybe with a kart tank.
I don't know....seems like alot of work.
Did you do the 140 or 144 conversion yet?

Not yet...
I was planning on doing it this winter but since i probably have a bad crank and need to rebuild my top end im not so sure. But if i could manage a gp800 plus the 144 pump im sure i would love that setup. I need to just fix the 701 and then buy another hull for the 144 pump and a bigger motor. I dont think i can live with the idea of not having an fx1 running by summer because i got ahead of myself.

Anyone done it? My engine is most likely pretty messed up so I was wondering if I can swap in a gp800 or would I be way to far over my head?

no offense, but likely over your head....

the engine will fit, but you will need a custom exhaust as well as relocating the front 2 motor mounts....

a 144 pump would be necessary

lots and lots of work....then you have to find a WDK exhaust and have it cut/modified to fit..

there's a guy in idaho that has an F1 pro like mine all setup for a GP motor...but it has never been assembled since new

The King of failed FX1 projects says, "Thats Dumb."

Idok think its dumb too...:grouphug:

But a valiant thought, thinking outside the box is always good. This one is just a tad bit too much without lots of "know-how" and resources. Idok listed everything pretty much to the T.

What do you mean, your engine is "most likely pretty messed up?"

Like putting a big block in a geo metro. Im a fx1 lover but I cant see the logic behind such big power in such a narrow, porpoising, loose handling ski.

Come on Trent... Wheres the American (Go Big Or Go Home) Spirit?

Now that i bought my "Wifes" fx-1, i have 2 hulls to play with. :wavey:
My builder said if i get the motor and hull to him, and he can start from scratch with it, he will fab it up...

Now i need the motor, which might be in my reach right now.

My thoughts, a stock 800 puts out 120hp, highly modded big bore prob around 100. Stock is going to prob be more reliable. If not, i will have a spare 754 Big bore in the garage..

that the BEST type of hull to have big power in.......The Fxscream is a handful, but theres not too many skis out there that are more fun to ride...

the motor is the easy part.....start thinking about exhaust options first

you can use a WDK wetpipe....but it will have to be cut and rewelded to fit and a big pump is mandatory..

I dont think I'd want a gp motor pushing a kawi 650 pump haha....

a GP motor in an fx would be AWESOME..but its tons and tons of work, lots of money and you have to build it with parts that arent really manufactured...they're out there, but EVERYTHING will be custom.....

I think my other fx is getn a 144mm instead of the 140. My guy said he wouldn't want the WD pipe, he said he could weld up a few different pipes to try out like he did for some old race skis.

Either way it will be a winter project for next year. This year im stay small. 754cc with TL.

I would love to try out the fxscream....:crutches: That would be me after im sure.

Ive spoken blasphemy, please dont stone me:hitwithrock:. Maybe if I was a better rider I could utilize 120 hp in a toothpick of a ski, I guess im too big of a girl. I would love to try your fxscream out idok.

I remember seeing specialfx put up a pic of a 1100 triple in a fx1. I wonder if he ever finished it?

Yeah hardcore, ive used that trick too and it works. I talked my wife into getting a x2 a few years back cause it would be easier for her to ride, but it was actually me wanting the x2, hehe. Sometimes they catch on though.

By "king of failed fx1 projects" do you mean a botched pump swap and a wasted hull cooler? :)
Putting a 66e in isn't that much work, about as much as a 144mm pump swap.

Would the motor bolt up to the fx1 motor mounts or would i need some kind of custom bed plate? Other then exhaust it doesnt seem like it would be that hard.

And when i say my motor is "pretty messed up" i mean im probably looking at a new crank, new pistons, new head, and maybe a new bottom case if i cant get the starter bolt and easy out that both broke off out.

Depends on if you can get your hands on an upright mounting kit. Waterdawg makes one and there is another guy on the boards making one. They will make things much easier. You can also relocate the front motor mounts but that is much more work.

There is another guy making the upright kits too. Forgot his screenname at the moment. If anybody is interested I have been considering selling my complete carbs to exhaust 66E setup with an upright mounting kit, WDK exhaust, electronics, everything you need, tuned and ready to rock.
