I refuse to use anything but OEM Mikuni parts , that being said I don't use kits period, I find them to be way overpriced and they don't come with the needle and seats that you need to do the rebuild properly.

I am set up with Western Power Sports and they have the individual Mikuni parts so I order the individual diaphragms , o-rings, screws, plates, check valves etc.

For the price of a couple of kits I can have parts to build a ton of watercraft carbs , Time and money are interchangeable IMO , the real difference is you can make more money, your time is limited in quantity , that's my take on it , do whatever you like .

IN THE PAST......I had VERY good experiences with the VENOM brand carb kits. Something has happened and the quality has fallen off a bit. They are still mostly OK except the db shaped o'ring on the pump side WILL LEAK on Seadoo carbs. You'd think they're all the same Mikuni SBN right? Well, apparently the I BODY carbs on the Seadoo have that groove cast a little deeper than the rest........LEAKS! Other than that, the diaphragm and all the other parts seem fine. That being said........the last few kits I've used from SBT are spot on..........seriously, the quality has been VERY good. In fact, they seem to be the ONLY ones that have a decent kit out for the CV style carbs from the STX and Ultra150. Their regular Keihin kits are pretty good as well. And, of course, you can't go wrong with genuine Mikuni or Keihin.

Weird the last set of carbs I did the guys used SBT carbs on and they wouldn't pressure test and seal, the weird shaped o-ring on the pump side was about half the thickness it should have been , I replaced it and it was good to go , that was on a set of 720 carbs.

I put gas and a hot battery in the Green machine and it busted right off , but I noticed something weird going on with the plug wires , they seemed too short, so I pulled the other seat base that the coil is attached to off the other unit and tried it , same thing , weird , then I did a finger test on the front of the exhaust pipe, my finger would go in only to the base of my fingernail, on the other ski my whole finger slides in between the pipe and the hull, so somehow the engine in the Green ski is not set far enough back, I will loosen everything up and see how far back it will go , luckily you can get to all the bolts even the engine mount bolts are accessible , other than that no issues .

and another polaris 750 SL .... with a slight compression loss PTO cylinder ....

Opinions ....I really want to fix this one cheap so thinking about putting a used cylinder and matching piston on with new gaskets and then obviously new fuel lines clean out tank etc and carb rebuilds ......I know its a short cut which I normally don't take but kind of don't want to sink too much in the rebuild they just don't have a ton of re sale value here . Compression good on other 2 holes and I will run my camera inside to make sure no other visible damages. Also there is a littl chunk of that piston missing ....is it stil down n the cases or ?IMG_8556.JPG

My opinion usually when that happens the crankshaft has been tweaked out of phase , if so you are only fixing the symptom , not the problem and it will do it again and again and again and again , I won't even touch one of those anymore.

like you said there is no market for those anymore.

I've seen a BUNCH of them hole the rear piston. Usually the triple fuel pump upgrade takes care of it. The single outlet was old and weak and that's EXACTLY what happens............ALWAYS the rear. It rarely ever hurts the cylinder. Hone, piston, a few gaskets, rebuild fuel system, and upgrade to triple outlet pump.........good to go!

You can quickly check the index on any triple crank with a dial indicator and a large vernier caliper , put the dial gauge in the center cylinder , spin it to find TDC, use the caliper to measure down to each piston, the measurements should be the same , if not it's out of index.

obviously that doesn't work for you since it's apart and has a hole in one, but you can check it once it's back together .

I checked on the price of the Duplicolor perfect match and it has jumped again to $21.00 a can now, this is getting ridiculous , not too long ago it was like $9.00 a can , then $17.00 a can and now this ridiculousness . Rust oleum high gloss black from Walmart is starting to look better and better all the time on this one.

Perfect match used to be the ticket, it covered and sprayed well and if you covered it with clear it held up very nicely , that's when it was $9.00 a can and you probably could paint a hood with two to three cans , if you added clear maybe you are spending $60.00 ,

At this price it doesn't make any sense , three cans plus clear , you are looking at about $90.00 give or take , I can buy 3/4 of a gallon of Kirker Urethane for about $100 and paint who knows how many hoods, ski bottoms whatever with that , also it needs no clear because it single stage .

Update I went by Autozone and the paint there was still $16.95 a can , I am really not sure what is up with Amazon right now though .

Paint prices have gotten quite crazy. I was just looking at getting some single stage paint and hardener to do the top of my ski. Expensive o_O

Last time I checked on getting some PPG concept single stage , just the paint was over $200 a gallon , we won't even talk about reducer and hardener , yep expensive as rip .

Now you know why I shoot Kirker paint when I can .

That "panther black" basecoat from PPG that I did my wife's SJ in was $90 a 1/2 pint!! But, it mixes 1:1 with reducer to give 1 pint sprayable............that would be $720 A GALLON FOR BASE!!!! Good thing I wasn't painting a car.

I loosened up all the engine mounting bolts , shoved a 2 x 4 in there and jacked the engine back as far as I could , it is back farther than it was and the measurements from the back of the PTO to the carbon ring and the back of the PTO to the thru hull fitting are identical with the other hull , the spark plug wires still do not reach .

I am thinking there is something different on this 3D motor than a regular RFI , IDK , what I do know is how to solve the issue, I am going to take some stainless steel or aluminum plate and make a bracket that bolts to the seat base , then the coil will bolt to the bracket , that way I can slide the coil forward to where it needs to go. I am also going to check to see if the GTI RFI LE coil I have has longer wires , if so I will just use it, same style coil and it bolts up the same as an RFI.

thx for all the advise... in this case I will go the cheap route, already have a new triple pump left over from another project.

Quick side question is the sea doo 657 crank interchangeable with 717 crank ? still looking for that dam cheap fix 717 crank

Making the weekly trek to the lake to go do lake calls , 50/50 chance of rain so wish me luck with that nonsense.

I have a 2024 Seadoo GTI 130 that shakes too much ( who the f knows ), a 96 Seadoo GTX that needs a CDI box ( 5 MINUTE JOB ) and a Coleman SUV I have to replace a sidecover gasket on.

I had a spare minute today and cleaned all the algae off the SUV. Then I pulled it in the shop and yanked the 65u 1200. Good thing I bought another engine LOL!!
