engine decision help

I just purchased my first superjet hull its a 2001, So i am wondering what is the best suggested engine that I should put in it. I want to use the ski for tricks and just leisurly fun , but I want it to be peppy. I dont want a slow ski. What engine do you guys suggest ,and what electronics do I need to run with the engine.

just put a 701 in with no porting and stick an ada head on with the 35cc domes... then get the bpipe and msd enhancer.... also maybe get an aluminum charging flywheel if you have the $$...

cheapest option to do what you are looking for at your present level... then bump up later... look at my build thread... I have all that stuff and I am perfectly content right now.... I may decide to bump it up again in another year or so... we will see... depends on $$$$$$$ situation! strokers and bigbores are expensive man! do it later...unless you're rich... in which case screw you! lol j/k

lol. That set up you have Eric is for sure enough for me too.

I basically have the exact same thing (lightened 62t flywheel though) and I smile from ear to ear while shreddin.

If money were not an issue I would have a 927cc motor though.

wait a second... you live in Akron? dude come to the lake this weekend and I'll let you ride my ski for a bit! I will even help you build your ski if you would want some help!

If you have never ridden then the stock 62t that came out of that ski would be great. That along with a prop, intake grate, and a bored nozzle will be plenty for you to learn on for this year. By then you know what you really want out of a ski speed or freestyle or a little of both. But even with a freestyle setup the more power the motor builds the faster it will go.

This route could be very expensive. What is your budget?

Or it could save him money ! Ask around.. Even Gilgonrnd got some parts and service from Xscream and he rides for another company.

Not expensive. When it comes down to realiable motor and geting alot of brap for your buck....

Dracing,
You could get a pipe and a head, prop and grate and have a blast.
If you want motor work, and not just bolt on's, see above.
Recently Many of my friends have ordered complete motors,
and ALL of them... ALL are very happy !:Banane09:

My budget!!!
The easiest way to say it is , I like to buy and build the best the first time around so I dont have to go back and redo anything. But That doesnt mean I want to spend 10K on this thing. I want to build it to be fun fast and reliable.

10k would get you a 1200.

I personally am looking forward to a stock GP800 motor and then maybe 927 (bored GP800 motor) someday.

I just imagine a stock Yamaha GP800 motor is probably super bullet proof and super grunty!! I wanna ride one bad!

Go to Daytona and you can pretty much ride any setup you can imagine.

Rock n Ride will have a lot of different set ups too.

I ride at Springfield Lake most of the time... I rarely venture up to Erie...mostly because Springfield is like 10 minutes from my house.... you are welcome to come check out my ski though this weekend... do you know where Springfield Lake is?

if you are gonna go big with the engine then you will want to ditch that hull and buy an aftermarket hull.... if you are gonna start out smaller like most people do then keep the hull and build a cheap 701 or call the vendors like mentioned above and get a "budget" package... IMO

BS. I have seen a million super powerful motors in 10 year old reinforced SJ hulls.

5-10k on a hull is not AT ALL needed. Wanted, yes. Needed, NO.

well if he is gonna drop $5000-10000 on just the motor whats another $5k on a hull? I guess I would just say if he was going to go all out then now would be the time to pick one up....

From the sounds of it he is not wanting a crazy built-up ski to start out on though so I prob. didnt even need to mention that... just something I wish I would have done.... but I was a retard and bought a new superjet, so maybe that is why I regret not getting that aftermarket hull...

Like you said, I dont want to spend 10k on this ski. I just need to know what is the engine and electronics to buy that will give me the best bang for my buck . And also something that I can easily modify when I want more power. The 701 is the engine I keep hearing about , now I just have to find one. Also since im new to this , Im a little confused on the what certain terms mean. ( e.g. what is a 62 t case and or a 61x engine.)

62T case and 61X cylinders is what you want...
there are other types of cases and cylinders out there, but this is what most people shoot for for starters...
