I was riding in salt, and was going about 3/4 throttle, when the ski suddenly shut off and threw me over the bars. Now I have no spark at all. I am checking the stop switch first, guessing that it is stuck on off. It cranks just fine, but no sparky sparky.....

#2 Look in Ebox and under Stator cover????

This happened to me once and it was my kill switch wires. They were lying against my waterbox and it rubbed a bare spot through the insulation. The wires would touch and I would take a handlepole to the gut.

ground the engine to the ebox may be the ground ,04 up cdis have a plug that the terminals are bad about corroding had the same thing happen to Ericas old sxr the pins were eatup on the cdi box.

You need to cut the plug off on the start stop right at the ebox. Then leave the black and white not touching and touch the red and yellow to each other and see if you have spark.

I cut the black/white already, it turns over, but no spark. I'll get into it again tonight. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Ground wire is good. Replaced it with a big thick one at the end of last season.

Coil wires are good, cut them back 1/4 inch anyway, still nothing.

Pulling out EBox next.....

Nah, that's all good. I just hit a small wave right when it shut off and it tossed me good....then that damn current sucked me out to sea!

Electrical box looks clean and perfect inside. Love the aluminum Kawi boxes with the o-rings...never leak! All parts are testing fine and there is power all the way to the coil. Basically I am guessing the coil has a short in it somewhere or is shot. Need to borrow a working one to test it out.

If you are using random old used coils to test how do you know they are good?

A bad CDi should give at least some intermittent crap spark.

Did you check the flywheel and pickup?

Tested the pickup using the wires that go into it, and the numbers seem fine, but didn't pull flywheel cover yet. :):):):), I hope my flywheel is good. The motor turns over just fine...so how could it be the flywheel?

Zach says that it is a good working coil and I didn't get one bit of spark. In 14 years, I've NEVER had a spark problem on a kawi that I couldn't solve by cutting a 1/4 inch off of the plug wires...shooooooooooot.
