i just got in my pistons and cylinder that are "ready to run" and upon inspection of the pistons one of them has some nicks in it on one side (picture one) the other one has a ding on the top that barely makes a gouge on the side (doesnt extend past where the rings do) and on the bottom of that same piston it appears to be bent in (the bottom flange that goes by the intake port), it is the piston on the right in the picture at the top of the piston, compare it to the other. I hope this guy didnt screw me bc all i wanted was some damn pistons to run and he told me this topend was ready to go.

if i use light grit sandpaper can i smooth out the dings?

I wouldn't run them but I have also seen stuff alot worse than that run all season in a 2 stroke you are taking a chance of destroying your cylinder and filling the motor with grey goo1
spend the money and buy new piston's

I dont think they look THAT bad, but I would probably not have advertised them as "ready to run" either.

but, photos up front would have saved some grief.

Ready to run, is a very subjective description...

I would think you could clean them up lightly and use them PROBABLY.

Looks like those pistons were in an engine that went through some tough times. They appear pretty worn and the bent skirt is no good. It also looks like someone sanded the top of the piston to reduce the pitting caused by whatever was bouncing around in there. I would send them back for a refund if I was you and buy some new ProX pistons, bore if needed and set it up right.

you want to be reliable out on the water. Anything worth doing....is worth doing right. I would contact the seller asap. Doesn't look like something that could be damaged in shipping...but if the seller wont help then hopefully it had insurance.

If the pics he sent you deliberately hid those things then he is a dik and I would try to get your money back.

And tell us who he is.

Now that I think about it, if that package got banged around like UPS does ( What can Brown do to you?) the cylinder could have gotten "dropped" on top of the pistons, causing that damage. If that's the case they were packaged poorly.

Yeah all you need is the new rings just because it was taken apart. Its always a good idea to do. Do you need any other parts? I have an aftermarket pole spring and some other handling stuff I'm looking to get rid of.

this sucks balls, i could have spent the money on new pistons and just honed my existing cylinder but i figured if it was already ported and in good shape it would have saved me time and some money... guess not

every thing was packed very well, box was in good shape too

Based on those pics I probably would have not hesitated to buy that stuff.

But if the box was good and the packaging was good then he was hiding something IMO. Honestly, it looks like different pistons in his picks. Switcharoo??

How come no replies to his thread? Did you just PM him and buy them right away? Irrelevant, but I was just curious.
