defoaming surprise

I just bought this ski from a friend last weekend 2002 SJ. It weighted out at 343lbs minus the battery with about 2 gallons of gas (maybe 12 lbs). After contemplating defoaming I took the turf off and found the footholds screwed in along with 5200, but NO glass and NO foam. So we began the defoaming process yesterday and this is what I found...SAND!

So I guess I got some 24-7 footholds ready for E-bay:nana:

But, I guess it proves that Maro's 24/7 footholds really were strong enough to not need foam to support them and give them strength like most of the others!!!!!!!!!

True that...I miss his stuff. I imagine if he would have been in business when I bought my AM hull it would have been one of his. He was the first AM guy I ever new about.

I have a very used pair of his holds from 1995-ish in my garage right now and they are solid!!

Wow man!! That thing is gonna feel like an aftermarket hull when you are done.

I haven't rode it yet, so I really won't be able to compare it to how it was, but I have been riding 2 non-stock hulls (my carbon XFT and a squarenose to round conversion). Can't wait to see how it compares!

my friend just ran into the same prob. he baught a ski with 24-7 footholds not put in right and no foam backing. the foam in there is a little wet but not sandy. does that stuff dry out ever or do u have to refoam?

What do you think?...cut through the bulk head bolt to lower the scupper or will the bulkhead not have enough support?...I guess I could even go under the midshaft (but then I'll have a big hole that will need to be patched).

You can cut aawy the post if necessary. Its basically there to locate to bulkhead and secure it until the glue that is around the bulkhead dries. The bulkhead is secured by the glue at this point.
