You guys ever thought about running some limiting straps over the motor ?

Everyone seams to be strapping down their hoods, poles but nothing on the motor.
I'm not talking about strapping the motor down solid, give the straps enough free play to let the mounts do their job but when the situation gets critical the straps take over.

I think they're the same size but don't have the flat spots on the sides of the rubber damper. one of the x-jet guys suggested it a while ago and I bought a set. they've been sitting on the shelf since my square was stolen.

it involves bolting ss wire rope down to the bottom of the motor mount through an eyelet. what it goes over is still in discussion. I'm thinking over the bed plate.

idetical? close enough? or better than SJ mounts???

They look different. But are functionally the same. Same anglee for the bedplate. Rubber is a little bigger in diameter cause there are no flats.

The hull mounting holes are bigger. I am going to machine spacers to make up the difference. I still want them in the same place with the small mounting bolts.

Keepers fit too.

Paul (Jr) is actually running this setup right now. Many of the details were his idea.

He aparently put a motor through a carbon 24-7 hood on a pancake

I am just trying to put my own "Ollie Engineering" spin on it.

how is this for a ghetto fabulous motor strap. replace one of the motor mount bolts with an eye bolt and use a ratchet strap across the top of the motor to strap it down.

I may be talking via rectum but how about looping a strap around the keepers (this would require keepers front and back), the keepers become the eylet for the straps.
Up and over the head using head bolts as guides to stop the strap from sliding off.
Do the same on the opposite side but with a shorter piece of strap. The shorter end could have the ratchet on it.

This way the strap could be re-tightened as it stretches and would also allow easy motor removal,........

or not.

Will the seat belt release work after a good salt water soaking ?

So who else is thinking about doing these straps now that WaveDemon and I told you all our secrets ?

After the seat belts for the motor might want to look into and airbag mounted under the hood.
Set it to fire at the motor the moment a pancake is detected or when ever Yamasaki gets ahold of your ski.:tomato:

Hey Ollie, where did you get those stainless steel sleeve inserts on your GP800 engine mounts? That looks like a good idea.
