t5he only questin I have is when you start to modify the mount system to place more of the stress on the hull mount area, aren't you worried that that will rip out? because I had a diff idea but scrapped it. sorta like solid mount. but in a way that would allow the rubber to be used full time but have it in there for failure. sounds messed up I would have to draw it. anyway, when you sart to mount a strap to the hull if you slam down inverted and the mounts rip away is the strap gonna absorb the shock and stretch or just be like a chain and stop it? you gotta consider materials and how much shock you want ot transfer to the hull. I would rather repair ollies mess than have four holes in the bottom of the hull.

I do understand that I overdid it because more than likel;y the insert would rip out first but I was also considering the worst case scenario or years of the hull mounts being subjected to the full pounding.

Is what you are after a TOP motor mount? something that bolts to the head with a rubber body tha can locate and fix the strap to the engine while bolting to the KK's? Like a transmission mount that goes between the crossmember and the tail of the trans?

I say foam the engine in and leave some room for air to get to the carbs and you are done my friend! Plus it can never sink! even when upside down! LOL

:haha: I was joking about that too with some guys from work. lets put it this way, I've heard of motors coming loose and ruining expensive hoods, I've never heard of engine mount pedistals breaking off. Ollie, do you have your restraint system figured out yet? cause I just found the right sized eye bolts on mcmaster for my ratchet strap idea. Id rather go with the better idea. I NEED those extra motor mounts you have too.

Is there any way we could re-glue the mounts back together?

Another idea I've had is why don't they make motor mounts like they do on cars? with a fail safe built in?

now youre onto something.

OK, how is this. if we could reglue the top and bottom plate onto the rubber mount the plates could be made to interlock loosely so that when the rubber fails (or glue) the interlocking plates will save the motor from bounsing around.

I think we are overthinking this. Flip a mount over. There is a hole through the rubber + into the bed mount.

Put a bolt throught the bottom of the mount + a couple of turns into the bed plate mount.

You are done.

It will stop the mount fully seperating.

Mount still works the same.

Easy enough. L shaped bolt. like they use in concrete. the mounts are junk anyway find a thru bolt, the L part hooks under the mount base or even notch it for a holder. tension the bed plate down to sandwhich together or nut and washer it underneath the base and on top of the mount.

almost the same.
that would stop the mount from extending. it the bolt whas a little longer and not threaded into the bed plate mount you could double nut a big washer underneath and alow the mount to streach a little.
