yeah... thank god for that..

I had no numbers, lanyard, fire extinguisher, or registration w/ me and my trusty "high air quality" sticker.... still got all love from Fish and Game....

The cop was like: "you are probably one of those guys who puts their weed in a purple Crown Royal bag"... we chuckled and went on our way...

Note to self. Stop using crown royal bag:)

saw them again last weekend..........they said "once again, thank you for your help..you guys did a great job!!!!"

+2 for SUR's

That guy was all over it. I think that most aren't quite as stupid as you would think......or at least they've dealt with things enough to have formed accurate stereotypes. It was a situation of both sides being very cool and civil and he didn't have to get a hand cramp writing all of us up for 100 infractions. He did point out that 5 out of 6 skis could have been confiscated that day if he chose to. A messy paint job over a VIN or covering it with turf or removing it altogether gives him just enough authority to ruin your day if you give him a reason to. Wearing a helmet even when not required also seems to go a long way towards showing that you are knowledgable and responsible.

I was only kidding about the crown royal bag. You are right about the being cool and civil. If I ever get pulled over by any cop I try to treat them with respect and generally get it in return. If they do not give me respect they don't get mine.

I watched a show about cops who handle a big boat party in Miami. Some of the boaters really give those cops a hard time. I can understand that they can get sick of people with attitudes.

another thing...if a watercop ever pulls you over....introduce yourself and offer a hand to shake....sometimes that can turn a situation into a conversation :cool2:

What type of life jacket?

Was the Jacket not CG approved at all, or a Type 4 or 5 which is not approved for PWC use?

The Judge should have thrown it out, period.:bs2:

It was a Type III PFD, however it is not USCG approved. In the inside of the jacket, it states "Warning: this is not a lifejacket, it is a floation aid to be used in competition on a closed course"

Pic attached.

I'm glad I got the CG approved Helium vest.

I was majoring in criminal justice and planning on going into law enforcement. I basically wanted to be a cop because I don't like cops. I wanted to do things the way they should be with common sense and try to work more with people than against them. There's more to it but I'll keep it short.

After getting halfway through the hiring process I realized they don't want someone like me. They want that guy that will grow a mustache and be an asshole. And then I thought about the fact that I would have cops as my buddies for the rest of my life and I was over it. All of that schooling for nothing.

Get yourself an approved one, Phooey. It's very cool but I'm sure this situation probably crossed your mind when you bought the jacket. :frown:

Attitude goes along way in talking your way out of a ticket. Real cops hate giving tickets for dumbass stuff, but give a little attitude and they are willing to give you a ticket for everything.

Regarding the life vest issue: I would make an appointment to talk with the prosecutor before your trial date. If they won't dismiss the ticket, then I would try to get a deal: A) Probation - No similar infractions for a year, and it will be removed from your record. B) Offer to take a boating course to get it removed from your record.

Whatever you do... Don't come off as a legal scholar and want to have a legal debate on the fairness of the law with the prosecutor, it won't win you points. Good luck!
