Best Gopro model for surfriding?

the Hero 5 cams are all the same...all that differs is what they come with....

get the one with the most mouting options......skip the ones that comes with batt's and SD cards.....

I thinkj the vertical mount is the one you use for a helmet.....

The wide angle lens is good for shooting footage of yourself. It does not work well with filming others. The standard lens is good for that. I went with the Helmet Hero. It came with a helmet strap mount and a whole bunch of other mount. Some guys use the wrist mount and wrap it around the face shield on their helmets. Last I checked the wide angle lens does work with the wrist mounts.

X2- The Go Pro comes with two different lens options, wide or fish eye and regular. The wide goes out of focus on anything further than about 10’ so it works best when mounted rearward (to film yourself) The regular gets the all around best footage as you can still film yourself and others too. On sunny days the footage comes out crystal clear, on cloudy days the quality is more grainy.

Check out the latest O’side crew video which was filmed on a cloudy day. The quality is a little grainy so it’s best to watch it half screen. It has both the wide and regular lens shots so you can decide for yourself which camera (or both) to buy.

wide angle is great for helmet cam footage or ski mounted, to shoot yourself. if u wanna shoot other u need the regular angle. wide angle makes things look very far away.

heres a wide angle example

so i just bought one of these puppies. normal lens that i plan to use the wrist strap around my chin gard on the helmet. Sound like that will work? ALSO, will putting some rainX on the lens help keep some of the water off and messing up the image? Anyone try anything like that?

thought of something else. i know when i put rain-X on my windsheild sometimes the sun turns it into a rainbow probably cause of the oils in rain-x. that ever show up in your videos. sorry not to be paranoid about it but we know how rain-x is. once you put it on it will go back to the way it used shed water.
