GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
i hear ya paul, and i totally understand what your saying and why. i just respectfully disagree. i think the dominant standup nature of this site is what makes it unique over all the other pwc sites. sure, if you allow the flood gates of couchers to open, the site will surely "grow", but im not sure about moving forward.

I can totally agree on this...
and if it does end up going that way, I'll show them respect. I just wont get involved with the silly couch questions..
Even though I own 2 love seats(96' B2 and XP). I use them to ride my daughter around, I'm not into them at all TBH..

I knew you would disagree & I'm fine with that. no disrespect taken. I agree you are one of our more colorful members. In the correct context, you can probably sway more people to try stand-ups than most here.
That would be a great way to use your god given gift. But of course, that is your choice. I don't expect everyone leaving pwct to instantly join here. But the true riders will. Those are the ones we want. I don't want this site to ever be what pwct is. It is unique & thats the way it was created. but we can always expand of that.
Look at the nature of the guys banned today, they stood up for themselves & didn't take crap. If thats not a dominant stand-up rider in the making, I don't know what is.

theyre not the coucher noob type that flood the boards with stupid repetative questions about waxing tecniques and such. as long as they can put up with me shoving "GET A SUPERJET" down their throats whenever they post about their couches, we'll all get along fine. is that the correct context you were talking about?

:haha:

maybe we can call the section for the sitdown riders "superjets for sale".

:haha::haha:

seriously, itll be interesting to see what come of todays events. whatever happens, i promise to remain me.

MIchael is absolutely correct. If we are to grow, there has to be a place here for the sit-downs. We as a group have to refrain from the bashing. we need to open up & show them the light. with respect!!!!!

Charlie, as you know, I'm as pro stand-up as anyone here. I basicly live for this sport. With that said, now is the time to open up a section for the sit-downs. We have the golden oppertunity to show a lot of new peeps a way to grow the sport. The flood gates opened over at PWCT today & we showed record numbers for it. We now have a chance to move foward. I say show those sit-downs some love & allow them a place. Are you with me Charlie??
We will always be the freeride place to be, we will never move away from our course. But we will allow all to see what we are about.

ski ya, Paul

I completely agree with you Paul. Well Said. :arms:

I think there definitely needs to be a sitdown section so if guys like SFL don't want to bother with "waxing questions" they don't have to.

I myself don't mind helping out a fellow rider with some advice regardless of whether or not he is on a couch.

Just keep in mind I'm not here to be "shown the light" on buying a standup ;)

If I choose to add one to the stable at some point, so be it.

Welcome aboard Mr. 99... Come check out one of our freeride events like Freestylefest! There are always a few runabouts there... so you won't be alone. I'm sure you can try out about 30 other skis there if you like too!

Charlie, I understand where you come from w/ regards to Stand-up vs Couch. I like bike riding and kind of compare the differences to road biking v. Mountain Biking, one is more extreme than the other, one is more about taking the road vs road less traveled, etc. That said, in the biking community they both get along however they have their separate forum sections. Road bike ?s and MTN bike ?s stay within their respective forums. I suggest we do the same here. Have a runabout section with General, Racing, Tech, and Freeride forums. With proper moderation from the beginning you ensure proper posts in each respective forums (couch & SU), with the ground rules set members will show others where the correct posting should occur. Besides, you can change your sig back to Stop asking stupid questions and buy a SJ (if that was you). Noone would expect anything less,.

well thats what seems to be the point of having couchers here

personally, i find it easier to recruit someone into standups that has never even owned a PWC than it is to convert a coucher.

with that said.....

GET A SUPERJET DAMMIT!

I also started out on a couch and was converted, but it took 2 years of couch riding to be converted. When I started out on my couch, I thought I was doing "tricks" when I was doing my 180's and 360's and stuff. I was shown what real tricks were by watching Paul and a few other local standup riders in the river and ocean. I had no idea skis could do the things they were doing. Needless to say i was quickly converted. Alot of couchers dont have stand up riders near them to be able to see what these things are capable of. Thats where these forums can help out, to show them how much better they are. I think Couch riders will be mostly welcomed here, but they will get the hazing they need to try and convert them.

They are different! You cannot say one is better than the other without taking into consideration what it's used for.

Yes, LRV's are not the ideal ski to do barrel rolls in the surf with. On the otherhand, superjets are not very practical for a family to go on a nice canal ride together.

I think Couch riders will be mostly welcomed here, but they will get the hazing they need to try and convert them.

Why Haze? The ones that can be converted, will be converted in their own time. The rest just take it as a personal attack...

We just all need to agree to keep the RXP's on the other site!

on the contrary, I think the guys on the fast 2 seater sit downs are a good candidate to convert. they think they are extreme and not looking to take out the family.

Im not saying that we are going to haze and bash these people, but there are a select few *cough* sfl *cough* that will still torment them. Thats fine, thats him and the way he is.

Better, different. I figured you would understand the point I was trying to make, sorry I'm not a novelist, I'm just a mere rider.

i've always hated the stupid standup vs couch debates.

the whole 'standup elitist' attitude is BS. and if you ARE going to be an 'elitist', you better have the skills to put your money where your mouth is. just owning a standup doesnt make you any better than a 'coucher' ..

thats my take on the subject. my views might be 'old school', but thats the way i grew up. skateboarding, bmx'ing, motocross, it's all the same. just having a dirtbike or a skateboard, doesnt mean you know how to ride it, same prinicipal applies here.

this is the reason i go out there and try to go as big as my cojones will allow me to..

anyways, i dont support the whole 'elitist' attitude, never have, never will, sorry.

my .02, sorry if it offends anyone, just speaking my mind on the subject.

what he said...

Sorry about the kid comment. I didnt' realize you were 24. Maybe I just thought SBT was treating you like a kid? I dunno. Have you called Randy at Watcon? He is a pretty smart guy and has helped me with my couch issues.

Not sure if that was directed at me or not, but I completely agree with you here. I'm a beginner still learning how to ride. I also dont agree with the standup sitdown debates, I say if your on the water having fun thats all that matters. If my comments came across any other way, it wasnt intentional
