96 Superjet rebuild - turfed pics up

Little more progress. Glassed the tray up 90% of the way, still needs a little attention. Assembled the ski and got a couple rides in. I really like how the tray and foot holds came out. Very comfortable.
I also decided to try to do something with the nose tonight. It was busted up as far as I cut off. I wanted to have someone make me a nose to glass on, but I figured this would work. I cut just a little too much foam from the edges, so I have to add a tiny bit and do a little more sanding, the I'm going to lay up some glass over it tomorrow. This way, if I smash the nose in, maybe it won't sink. I need to trim the foam from the inside a little to clear the from exhaust hose, but not much. Hope it rides good! Unfortunately I won't be able to try it out for a few days.

Time is running out, so I stayed up a little late and layed up a couple layers of 12oz biaxle over the nose. Came out good for only two layers, and foam. I feel comfortable riding it like this for sure. I'll be adding more when I get home next week for the Daytona sand. Got the waterbox and tank/lines all back in, and carb re-jetted.

Got a good ride in today. Jetting is much closer, burnt about 2.5 gallons. Need to turf now, I was sliding all over the place.

Will, hit me up next time you're going to ride, I may toss the drysuit on and go with you.

Thanks! It's almost done. Just finished turfing the tray. Turfing rails this afternoon, little spray bomb, and it'll be mostly finished. I've ridden it a few times. I REALLY love the way this engine runs now. It was always lacking something in the X2. Not sure if it's the better tuning with the 38's vs improperly tuned single, the yamaha pump/hooker prop, or the lighter hull, but I love it. I'll post some pics of the turf/paint when it's all finished up. Can't wait for Daytona.

Eh' WTH, here's a couple shots of the turf. Only thing I've done since is intstall the primer, ebox bolts and a really bad ass cam-cleat for the limiting rope setup. I'm sure I'll post pics of all that soon enough. I'll be painting everything flat black, and the hood will be turfed all down the center and flow into the black turf on the dash. Let me know what you think. Foot holds feel perfect for me. Little too tight for the dive boots, but are right on the money for the wrestling shoes. Can't wait to ride it now. Feels like I should lock in really well. E-Rok should like the colors!

Here is a pic of the cam-cleat. This thing is bad-ass. I got the idea from Sharky's ski at the Surf Slam. It is VERY strong. I can pick up the back end of the ski with this little rope, no slipping. Great thing is, you can set it up for the tallest height you want, and easily adjust it to stay lower any time without cutting/changing anything at all.

those things are great. they are often used on sail boats too for the sail ropes.

love the tray!

That cleat look really trick. I am re-turfing right now and I may have to "borrow" that idea.
