Please, lets just keep this a nonpartison discussion about the events of 9/11. Keep the politics elsewhere. Otherwise, this thread will go down hill fast. I'm holding my tongue as it is to not respond to some of your comments.

I was 60 miles from my house and I was fixing some ladies computer when we heard it on CNN. We both sat down and watched it for like 2 hours and I was late for rest of my calls.

It was a bad day man!

I visited ground zero 3 years ago. Really just sureal. Tourist taking pics everywhere made me feel weird. I just stood and stared for what seemed like forever.

I drove by the Pentagon last weekend. It looks good as new. I wish they'd hurry up and start a project on the WTC site.

God bless the families who lost loved ones on 9/11.

pssssst.......... I was using F16's as an example, then decided to go find a pic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jeeezzzzzz

for 50 points, what was the other fighter that the airforce was looking to use instead of the F16..................

The F-18. The Air Force decided on the F-16 and the Navy got our hand me downs.

for 50 points, what was the new technology that the F16 untilized that (If I am not mistaken) was the first put into production.

Fly-By-Wire. The Viper is by far my favorite plane. More than likely I'll have the F-22 as a choice when I complete pilot training, but I will still pick the F-16.

Jetskier79 where were you stationed and what branch were you in?

I'll just go ahead and give you a big thanks for serving our country.

The worst and best moment in American History.

1000's of Americans lost their lives that day. :frown:
More Americans came together to help each other on that day than any other day. :hail:

Lets continue to live free to honor the lives lost!

:usa:

I was teaching class that day. We had to lock the school and the classroom doors and keep all the kids there until their parents picked them up. The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was over Cleveland when it all went down. Parents were calling to send their kids home, but we couldn't let them get on public transportation and go through downtown. I had to really try hard to keep calm and pretend like things were OK, so the kids would stay calm.... Rough, rough day.

The Good Old Days
It was a tragic day.
I remember everything about it, where I was, what I was doing, how I felt....
Many lost their lives in a cowardly attack on civilians by savages. I know its not PC but how else can you describe the perpetrators ?

Out of all the gloom I did see something that still sends shivers down my spine, it was the spirit of the American people.

Now, 5 years later not as many flags fly and the unity has dwindled but we can never forget how we felt that day.

The war might be a costly one and to some unjust but what is the alternative ?
To let the fanatic savages win ?
I say, NO.

Even though I am not yet a citizen I'm still proud to call my self an American.

An American in France is not a Frenchman....

An American in Italy is not Italian....

An American in Germany is not a German....

But a Frenchman, Italian, or German in America is American.

It is a sad day indeed. I have a good friend who lost her husband that day. She was pregnent with his daughter at the time. It is a real shame that she will never get to meet her father John Perconti. It makes me so angry just thinking about it. I was in high school at the time and I remember the teachers would not let us watch the news, it took alot of convincing to get them to turn it on. I was also worried because it was my sisters first day of work in NYC. I beleve that 9-11-01 is a date that all Americans will remember where they were and what they were doing.

at the school I got to the college republicans which I am a part of put out roughly 3,000 small flags in the courtyard and had a sign with 140 pages 9 pt font of all that were lost this day, when you see that board at the number of flags all next to each other it really takes you back. Also, just wanted to add, ever sunday all sorts of hippie dems stand out in front of our courthouse with flags and signs saying peace and out Iraq, well I was walking by this last sunday and usually I wouldnt say anything but could not resist this person yelling at cars that were yelling at them and I said, as in the song have you forgotten what happened 5 years ago, how can you honestly say to remove our troops from Iraq afghanistan or any other country and risk what could happen again like 9-11 , i said a few other things because this person really got me worked up and all they had to say was I just dont believe in Bush;s foreign policy and they started shouting again. Some people just dont get it!

You go to GVSU dont you?!? We did that at our school today. As for getting worked up at those "hippies", chill down a bit. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I am sorry for everyone that was affected by 9/11 and my heart goes out to their families. I am on the side that doesnt agree with bush's foreign policy but my heart is definately with all of the victim's family's today.

EDIT: Reread and it sounds similar to what we did but maybe not exactly. Where do you go to school?

I just sat at work and watched the news.

Only two of my twelve patients patients showed up that day.

I actually go to Northern Michigan University in Marquette MI. Sorry I may get worked up about this event and I believe both sides have good arguments that surround this issue and ones alike but this song pretty much says it all and im glad there are other people that feel the way I do, Toby Keith said....American girls and American guys
Will always stand up and salute
Will always recognize
When we see Ol' Glory flyin'
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep at peace at night
When we lay down our heads

My Daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Til the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother
My sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the Land of the Free

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flying in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the Fourth of July

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name
At the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin' her fist
And the Eagle will fly
And it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother freedom
Start ringing her bell
And it will feel like the whole wide world
Is raining down on you
All brought to you
Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue

Oh, justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way
Hey, Uncle Sam put your name
At the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin' her fist
And the Eagle will fly
And it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother freedom
Start ringing her bell
And it will feel like the whole wide world
Is raining down on you
All brought to you

Oh, oh, of the red white and blue
Oh, oh, oh, oh of my red white and blue

I got home late from work like 3AM PDT and turned on SportsCenter. I woke up a couple hours later and CNN was on I couldn't figure out what was up so I changed it "back" to ESPN but CNN came back on. I thougth that something must have been going on so I watched, saw the second plane hit live, changed the channel to FOX and watched the rest of the day. I was in LA at the time and we thought that we were next on the list for sure. I will never forget.

And a big thanks to all who are serving now or have served in the past. I can't say that enough.

God Bless the USA :usa:
