Surfriding 2008 SJ....Super Tray ... Short, Wide, Strong. Almost done !

Its been some time and the tray is done and primed, ready for pad and turf. Lots of trial and error with this part of my 08 overhaul. Most have seen my other posts about cutting the sides down and reinforcing to allow for a lowered tray and adjustable holds. Alot of work but things are coming along as planned. After the versiplug and lowered exhaust was done EPS was cut into blocks and fitted. After the blocks were in nice and snug, 2 part was used just to skim the top. I kept the old Pancake Pete front hold in and blended it out to the new sides I made. First sides I tried to shape outta 2 part but I didnt like it, so after all that work I scrapped it and molded another set that looked much much better. Came out great and cant wait to see it all turfed and finally finished ! ! !

Thanks for looking.

You know you could have just spun the pipe and redrilled the bulk head lower. That way you have a solid pipe in there. We just did this on a 08 and a 97.

But very nice build!! It's worth all the work for sure.

Not a good idea to redrill the bulkhead lower because water will come back up the pipe from the rear and fill the exhaust quikly when not running....especialy in surf.
