I know what you mean.. was actually tryin to sell my car before I bought the new ski. it's an older audi s4. it could probably tow some standups but w/ a hitch i'de be jamming my back end on the ground over the smallest bumps/speed bumps.

As for selling the couch. Wish I could, I'm still in school and actually went in on it w/ by brothers a few years back so i'm workin on convincing them.

I'm not about to make a move yet because I'm still waiting on the JK ski to arrive in the next couple days. I'm sure I'll be addicted and not be able to sell it so then i'll really have to figure out what to do because something has to go. I may try to get my cousin to buy the '08 SJ because he's always around so I'de still have access to it. The only problem is that I would lose it as my own project ski.

Quick question. Anyone know how to make the '08 quick steer like the older SJ's? The throw stock is nothing, it's all in the lean. Looked all around and seen it has the old fx-1 pole and cable, but havn't seen the solution. I just bought the steering kit/bars, and was in the market for a trim kit before I got the JK ski, but can't afford it or a handpole now. Suppose I'll find out if the steering kit helps once I get it up here to install.

And. how necessary is hull reinforcement for flat water riding? mostly freeriding, not buoys.

My bad w/ the long post. new around here, trying to settle in, know yall don't want to be reading essays...

I dont know anything about the 08,but the reinforcement isnt that neccessary for flatwater.Once you start trying to BR allot then I might. I think keeping the hood on from failed rolls is more inportant. We dont get high enough from BR ing to hurt the ski IMO.

The tongue weight on a stand up will be like way less than you standing on your rear bumper.....that car won't even know it is there. Reinforcement not needed IMO....hood straps a must.....

You are the richest student I have ever heard of so don't sell anything and just slowly build the 08. Rock the JK ski...it deserves it and will need NOTHING for a while I imagine.

I'll probably talk to John over at blowsion about it tomorrow, but how's the maintenance on a ski like the JK one? aka with fresh water riding how often (how many hours) do I have to expect to swap the top end, rebuild the engine, etc?

I have not seen to many motors that are built correctly get worn out, yes it will happen but it will take as long as your 08 (a long time/ several seasons). As long as you don't get water injection/ sink it . Might ask at blowsion if full rpm wide open runs will hurt the motor. A lot of motors that are set up for free style are not made for wide open throttle. That ski is awesome i've saw it at the last finals with ross.. It is a piece of history.. I think i would keep it as a center piece in my house and ride it as special occasions..:woot:

That is a great looking ski. But it has been ridden and ridden hard. Granted, I would probably be more inclined to buy a ski from JK than someone who rides the surf alot and tries flips and rolls. But it is a 4 year old ski that has been ridden in the surf alot. I would get it, inspect the hull for cracks and what not then make up your mind. That being said, Keep both if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the steering on the 08. You need to replace the handlepole and cable with pre 08. Don't worry about a trim, that's the last mod you should do. Ride the jk ski.

1 day on the forum and i like this place already.. i'll probably keep the JK ski a month or two so I can hang on to a temp registration and then decide what to do. Gotta get a feel for it and see if i can still let it go. That way if i sell it, I can still give the buyer the paper of origin so they can register it as the first owner. I only ride in fresh water down here in georgia too.

that ski was born and bred in the salt.....you need to get it to florida ASAP

its just not going to be right unless its in the ocean :usa2:

no different than any other ski on here........the difference between that ski and our skis is the guy the original pilot

do you have pics of the tray? That ski is set up with a strap for goofy so hopefully you ride goofy. JK put in extra padding on that boat and turfed it himself so dont go ripping that turf off and changing straps around and stuff haha. Have fun with it, that ski is clean compared to his other boats.

John over at blowsion actually took up the old turf and foot straps before he sold it. It was bad azz that JK did it and all, but they didn't want to sell it with them since they were goofy, and they were in some weird position that about no one else except him would use.

Bummer to let you down.

We talked a lot about the condition before I bought it too. Apparently the motor in it now had only been ridden by JK for a couple months in '06 and then at the Hossegor air festival. His injury was in Jan 07, and it hasn't been ridden often since then. It's supposed to be pretty perfect condition unlike most of his other skis that have been swamped and had the engines sunk.

keep both SJ's sell the couch. If you have to sell a SJ then keep the JK ski. For that price you will never build yours to any where near what the JK ski has in it.

Just put the steering kit on my '08 superjet and really bummed because I cant use the middle or outter quick steer setting. the cable is right at the max on the slowest setting.

I have the stock handpole which they changed in '08 but i'm sure yall know that. What's up with it being so gimp? The nozzle is also different so i cant get that quick steer plate either. Anyone know how to make it so I can use the outter settings?

Edit: Nevermind, posted in the superjet section. Got it figured out now
