Couch batteries always last longer than stand up batteries.... not sure why that is??? :brap: I've been pretty lucky with batteries, they usually go 3-4 years, but that is probably because I don't winterize, I just ride!
Yeah, always clear your engine by holding it full throttle for 20-60 seconds.
Really though, please do not do this. A couple quick revs is all you should need.
If you upgrade the steering, I'd recommend staying away from the ones with bearings if you are going for surf riding. The Blowsion one on my ski works, but has to be cleaned out from time to time due to the salt water intrusion.
