I dont know if an Xmetal box woudl work better or not, but I think they are a little smaller than the stock 96+ stock fx waterbox will be fine... I used SJ tank straps.. here's is buttis fx....this one has a SJ tank and a MOD chamber...notice the batt box and full size battery this...

Ok, here's what you need to do Install your factory B, ltd pipe..waterbox and exhaust hose just like any other time. REmove the battery box There will be about 2" between the pipe stinger and opening to the waterbox so you will have to trim the hose. One of those silicone FPP...

spray down the engine with silicone or WD40... the maintenance comes AFTER the ride...

its a cutup flywheel cover that allows you to run the motor and have access to the fly/stator/bendix you can use it to check for spark or timing Here's another special tool.....works great in most situations just have to keep it pointed North! :bump:

the UMI system will definatly last longer in a lake, but will disintigrate in 1-2 seasons in salt... that little round needle bearing just crumbles....

no steering is steering some are longer, some are shorter the best ones do NOT use a UMI bearing system....and if they do they are best rebuilt with a JSS tuff thrust kit you cant go wrong with ANYTHING from Xmetal

whats the point? by the time you get done you will have spent close (if not more) than what it would cost to have chuck build you a proven package with 100% reliability
