Ha, I just called him today for the first time as I was searching for some umi steering in stock and he's hooking me up in time for the weekend
Normally I'd agree with you waste but for some reason I just got a soft spot for her... Plus she's paid for half her ski and everything in it so I'm just thinkin of a little something extra I can give her that'll help her out besides squeaky elbow grease and bad advice. And the sooner she can...
Just dropped off the pole at the powder coaters. $65 for white. Includes sandblasting/prep. An hour or two of my own time is worth more than that here at the start of the season.
Jerry, not using clear on the bottom if that's what you mean? I already scratched it up a bit by flipping it...
Okay she's on board with the $10 solution. She's getting a fresh paintjob so I think some gloss is going to be the way to go but I can always resand/paint for another $10 if it doesn't turn out good. I see what you mean about flat hiding dents and blending patch jobs better. I'll see what I...
I won't feel out of sorts because I don't have em on my primary ski. I'm still a newb too and am thinking I would like to progress more w/o them for now. Unless I put em on mine to have her try them out and then if she like them maybe get her some and deal with not having a seamless paintjob...
I am but she's not  . I was lucky to get away with Rustoleum appliance paint on the bottom hull. Why do you suggest flat? This'll be white, btw...
Oh and I got a phone estimate @ $120 including prep around the corner. That's a lot of money for this old pole...
I've been thinking about putting a set of Tubbie 1's on my wife's sj (also my backup surf ski) before painting. She's done decent on an sxr before but has never been on an sj (and I won't have one together before I paint hers). I'd really like to make her transition from her 3d as easy as...
This thing has some chipped up paint on it still and looks like it'd be a beotch to clean up the underside. Anyways, what are my options for making this thing pretty again?
I've read about polishing it but I'm really not the patient type and don't want something high maintenance...
My nose is fine for ridin'. Just not for pancakin' for another two weeks or so. At the rate my ski is coming along, that'll be perfect :banghead:. I'll definitely do my best to get up there sooner than later.
I won't be making it either but I still appreciate your offers to help me out. I'll definitely be tracking you down though once I get my stuff in order.
Mike I expect to see some backies on video or else your ski comin in on a tow rope :woot:
Yeah my 3d sucks ass in the surf when I put gas in it.
I can't say I really notice on my sj. My loosening up probably has more to do with it than fuel level.
For quicker/more throw, move the cable in on the nozzle and out on the turn plate. Just be sure you check all clearances and still hit your steering stop and not just max out your cable length.
You'll need:
Pole/bracket/backing plate
Bushings
Bolts - I recommend xmw's
Breather tubes - need to do some fiberglass work if going dual
Reinforce under your pole mount area in addition to backing plate
UMI steering
Aftermarket turn plate - if xmw, then you'll need straight bars
Chinpad + turf...
I just got mine yesterday but then I realized I've been waiting for the last issue for two months. For some reason I didn't get it and would have liked to of had the Daytona coverage. Anyone know how I can get a copy of the Mar/Apr issue?
