actually, theres only been 2 of them made; steves and mine. he has the crappy old style x2 umi with the stops on the bottom. i wouldve went the x2 umi route if i could find the newer style x2 umi..... probably wouldve been a little easier, but the price was right for what i got.... and its WAY...

its a gp1200 UMI system thats been modified. its been raised and angled back to a 22.5 degree. an x2 steering will work too.

cog? do you know cogswell? ... of cogswell cogs? sorry... had to... are you talking about the bendix gear? starter? flywheel? im a little confused on the'prongs' youre speaking about. all 701, 650, and 760 starters, flywheels and bendix gears are 100% interchangable.

i use a balancer puller and an impact gun. i hold the flywheel w/ my and. i have a f/w holders but have never used them. :dunno:

is the rear circle not 'thick' enough?

not sure... it hasnt been in the surf yet. but in flat water, its very easy to side mount it compared to getting on an x2.

when you guys are running the fixed steering conversion hoods, how do you secure your hoods? regular hood straps? with the body weight and steering strength going onto the 'hood', i cant imagine you guys are running cheezy plastic clips. anyone with pics of their setup?
